This is one of the most serious and egregious issues I have with all the media these days--we don't get impartial facts, and we then take editorials as truth.
OTR, I am sure i can find a news source that you approve that will state the same thing, Its not a secret that Belafonte said what he said.

No need to find another source. I just get cranky about so many of our references. And in general references are getting worse! It is getting late, and it was over 90 degrees today. It probably makes me more on edge.

And I couldn't get past the 1st paragraph where they described the agency! Why would it even be necessary to describe a children's organization as liberal or otherwise. They are working with children!

He knows him as the most genuine considerate down to earth guy( considering his position) that you can imagine! Yet their are people on this very forum that consider him worse than hitler! Just like harry belafonte! http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...217.shtml?s=et
You might be right on that one, 777, but I just don't know what is going on in that head of his.

I'm one of those that has made similar or worse remarks about Bush, and maybe I should use my own experience with Belafonte and not cast judgement. But, GWB, has a lot more responsibility on his hands than Belafonte or Glover. He is the President of the free world, and I don't think 'down to earth' alone cuts it.

Maybe it's his crew screwing things up. But what does that say of him?

Again, what do I know.

Okay, I read more.

When I was in Peru they were having their election and I love politics, right. So, I went into the plaza and walked with the people. We all shouted stuff, probably including revolution! They needed more than they were getting and that election was rigged. So, I suppose I too am a disloyal American!

I remember the days when a reporter or journalist would not state his/her opinion on the subject. That was a big no no. Now a days it's a common occurence, both on the left and right.

Yes, you're right.

I no longer get the "news", I get the "views". Frankly, I'm not interested in what 90% of these wipes have to say. I want to know the story, not the opinion.

If some cringe at the use of the word traitor regarding Danny Glover how about sellout? Is he a sellout? Taking money from Chavez. He will be glamorizing socialism. And if he did say something negative about Venezuala he would be shut down immediately. Does this seem right?
The US can vote with their pocketbook by simply not going to his movie. I have a feeling it will not exactly be a box office winner.

Good films usually aren't. Unfortunately most Americans don't like to think. Maybe if Glover added a superhero or a pirate, then maybe it would be a box office hit.

It's not the word, it's the disingenuous willingness of some to leap at it solely for low, crass political purposes. We've had six years worth of that sort of garbage now, and look what all it's gotten us...

Not that I like Hugo Chavez, but what's so evil about socialism that it becomes treason to "glamorize" it? Would it be treason for someone living in Venezuela to come to America to "glamorize capitalism?"
