But we haven't, because... we aren't fighting a war on all fronts. If we were really fighting a war on all fronts, we would mandate and fund explosive-detecting machines at all airports both withing and embarking to America. But we haven't, because... you got me, if it's a war on all fronts, that should be the first thing we do. Instead, we have inane procedures like taking our shoes off. We are definitely not at war on that one. If we were fighting a war on all fronts, we would interrogate Israel over their American spying programs as vigorously as we do the Chinese. If we were fighting a war on all fronts, our returning veterans would have all the support they need.

If we were fighting a war on all fronts, it wouldn't be this war.
If we were fighting a war on all fronts we would secure our country's borders, first and foremost.

Your disgust should really be with TSA, not necessarily DHS, and you should reconcile your opinions with facts regarding who supported the creation of such.
Ah just got to love how efficient and effective the Department of Homeland Security has been. How it has consolidated all the intelligence information and established better flow of information between all intelligence agencies preventing a 9-11 event from happening again... or did it?

TSA subpoenas bloggers, demands names of sources - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091231/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_airliner_attack_tsa_subpoenas - broken link)

I really like this part from the current administration:

Quote:
The near-miss attack has prompted President Barack Obama to order a review of what intelligence information the government had about Abdulmutallab and why it wasn't shared with the appropriate agencies. He also ordered a review of U.S. aviation security. The government has spent billions of dollars and undergone massive reorganizations since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
Perhaps we can create a new agency that oversees the new agency's overview of the other agencies and call it the Department of Redundancy Department. For the Fatherland... errr Homeland's security. I guess its the American way, if it fails, build it bigger, bloated and more of it.

Can we wage a war on jealousy?

How about a war on transfats? Or a war on obscene language?

Yes, we're at war, but not with "terror." Wars can't be waged against tactics. We're at war with Al Qaeda, and increasingly, with the Taliban.
