I totally agree - except the moderate part - how do you describe what a moderate is?

My wife votes Democrat - but when I am able to talk with her through an issue (many times she doesn't want to her it) - her views trend towards conservatism.

I can only speak for myself, but I guess I bounce between leanings.

Like, with govt spending, I think it should be reigned in. The US, imo, is spending too much. (conservative view) But I'm all for govt programs and the expansion of some others (liberal), but I'm for really tight restrictions on particular ones, such as welfare (conservative). So it depends.

So from what you said - moderates have some views to the right and the left. I think that there is that mixing of views with the overwhelming majority of people.

There's more here, but I can't put my finger on it yet.

I guess I wondered if those who say they are moderates are reluctant to claim one position or the other for fear of confrontation.
