I thought Romney was the GOP's best of breed in 2008 but got bumped out early for some flip flopping and not being radical enough for the stark raving right wing.
What about the Flying Burrito Brothers?

Nah - Obama's policies are almost identical to every other country's policies to deficit-spend during a recession to keep the valley from going too deep.

They all do it because it works, as it has with Obama. I'm not saying the market hasn't had a natural correction, but no doubt actions were taken that pulled the economy back from the brink of disaster and that is a credit to the Obama administration.

Republicans have an opportunity to get some smart folks up - to move away from the anti-intellectual Bush / Palin model - and maybe go after people like Bobby Jindal or Paul Ryan. You may be right, though. Romney's chance may have come and gone.

Hadn't heard that about the son.

I thought people were repulsed by his looks and his college diet of eating squirrel meat he fried in his dorm room. Yuck.

Yep, here it is:

Son’s Past Could Come Back to Bite Huckabee - Newsweek.com

I just wonder if his son was able to illicit any information out of the animals that he tortured!

I can see the establishment getting behind Romney or Palin.I would not vote for either and most of it because of their stand on foreign policy.I heard Palin say that we ahve to protect our nation and our allies.Claiming to follow the constitution I do not know of anywhere that says we are to protect our allies. And fiscally we are in no shape to be spending nearly 700 billion. And of course neither will mention how to pay for it and it ends up as part of the debt.

In todays climate in the GOP I doubt a Catholic, Mormon, Hindu, and certainly never a muslim would get the potus nomination.
I didn't believe that until several friends from my church told me they would not vote for Romney for that reason, and that they would vote for Huckabee because he was a christian. I was shocked that there were still people in this country who thought that way. I love my friends, but I had to do this:

Personally, if a muslm or christian were running, and I thought the muslim could better run the country, I'll vote for him even though I'm a christian. It's not about religious faith. It's about competence!

I spent some time in Oklahoma and got to know many conservative Evangelicals particularly Southern Baptists. According to the ones I met, they don't consider Mormons Christian at all. They don't consider them a denomination of Christianity. They think they are a cult members. They told me they are particularly upset with Mormons because like Baptists, they go on mission trips and try to convert people.

Romney could agree on every Evangelical point but because of his status as a Mormon, they won't vote for him. It just proves that Evangelicals are indeed the American version of the Taliban because it's not about the issues, it's about their religion
