Whatever happened to the citizens voice in congress? They get voted in and think they can speak for us. Every law and bill needs to be approved by the people. THey should not be able to make laws with out the votes of the citizens.

Every law and bill does NOT need to be approved by the people. Tyranny of the majority. Mob rule. We live in a REPUBLIC that is designed to protect citizens from the tyranny of the majority. And that's a good thing.

The puzzle pieces that you've evidently lost are: an election where the majority voted for PRESIDENT Obama, even after being apprised of some of the contents of sermons at the President's previous church. President Obama wasn't the person preaching, by the way, and it's questionable that you could make the case that the preacher was a traitor simply based on those sermons.

Well, if you do not want for us to be a Republic anymore ...

We have already covered what a traitor is...And Obama should have reported his pastors speeches or walked out. He should have stopped going to that church.

The only reason Obama got voted in was because the only other option was terrible. He will not be re-elected i can guarantee that.

The pastor is a traitor because he criticized the country's leadership? And that makes you....?

To be fair, it was anti-"some of the things America has done" church.

Do you wish for God to damn America in some form or fashion because of its decision to elect Obama? If so, you are just as "anti-American" (as you put it) as Jeremiah Wright (just with an opposite reason for your feelings).

The only government money they receive is for work that they have performed, usually under HUD contracts put out for bids that they have bid on and won. But as you apparently don't know, GAO began an audit of ACORN's federal funding about three weeks ago.

I'll go first. In Nevada, ACORN is being prosecuted because a local office director -- without approval from superiors -- briefly paid a bonus of $5 to registration canvassers who had a particularly good shift. Prosecutors contend that these bonuses violated a state statute requiring that registration workers be compensated on an hourly basis. All ACORN canvasers are compensated on an hourly basis. ACORN will contend that the state legislature did not intend to breach the established rights of an employer to reward good performance or to discipline poor performance. If it is not dropped by then, the case is scheduled for trial in April.

Your turn. What's the skinny on the other case?

LOL. The CRA was passed in 1977 when ACORN was in its infancy. CRA does not require banks to lend to anyone. It requires that banks and S&L's that accept federal deposit insurance make honest efforts to lend into the communities that they take deposits from. Clinton was the first to enforce that responsibility, indicating that if banks expected positive action on applications for acquisitions or interstate branches, they better have good-looking CRA reports. When banks actually then tried to lend into their own neighborhoods, they were surprised to find that nearly half of the applicants qualified at prime terms. Nearly all the rest qualified at Alt-A, the level just below prime. The portfolio of CRA loans that was built up beginning principally in 1995 performed better than industry averages. CRA was both good policy and good business.

As noted, nearly half of CRA loans were prime. The GSE's bought these as they would have bought any other conforming loan. Fannie Mae did not purchase any significant subprime loans until 2003, and it was skimming a small portion off the top of a burgeoning market when it did. The actual loans that failed and put us into this mess were typically written between 2002 and 2006 by unregulated private brokers into middle-income and poorer communities with deliberately high-cost terms for sale and securitization through the major Wall Street investment banks. No ACORN involved. It is you who needs to expand his research. You are woefully short of the truth.

Even if the O'Keefe/Giles tapes were to be taken as valid, what you would have is the equivalent of a Macy's Sales Associate caught shoplifting. Macy's does not support shoplifting, and ACORN does not support illicit underage sex.

You didn't think at all. There was no inclination on your part to reserve judgment on anything. You just jumped on whatever bandwagon you were told to. ACORN has a long and very successful history working for the rights of minority and low-income communities. Their support comes from a variety of major funders including PNC Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Starbuck's, UPS, Kellogg's, Hyatt, and JPMorgan Chase among many others. You think all of those are run by dumb people? Not likely...
