Dick Morris is and always has been a Republican strategist. Working for Bill Clinton, a Democrat, was an exception not the rule.

Correct. They're just under new, personal threat of losing their jobs, ending their careers etc. Hence their overcautious approach to forwarding intelligence information AGAINST people who are no longer regarded as our enemies, but merely as muggers or purse-snatchers.

With the terror attacks now starting to occur again, and the obvious screwups in forwarding intelligence information that could have prevented them, what chance do you suppose there is for Obama to recognize the real causes for those screwups, and start supporting his intelligence services instead of trying to prosecute them for doing their jobs?

Sounds like yet another success story on how bloating the government with yet another massive agency like Department of Homeland Security is our standard method of dealing with modern asymmetrical warfare. If something fails, then build it twice as big for three times the price, then it will be too big to fail.

If so many on the right are so concerned with our nation being seen as weak, then why are so many on the right unwilling to put their money where their mouth is and go to the Middle East and show the terrorist how tough we are?

Its no wonder we are seen as weak, all our real warriors are over here on forums just waiting for that key moment to strike at the heart of terrorism and deal it one swift blow and end all evil in the world.

So is it your contention that Obama told all of the employees at the embassies something to the effect of, "Okay now!!! I don't care how it was done before, but you are going to be less vigilent!!! You are going to ignore terrorist threats!!! And you are going to do everything within your power to be complacent around here!!" ???

C'mon now.... The process worked as it always had. We got burned because we got complacent, period. These folks didn't suddenly get a new set of rules on how to deal with this type of information.

Could it be that our intelligence agencies, fearing further prosecutions, blame, and career-ending tirades and accusations from our highest elected officials, at some point decided to delay passing on certain opinions or warnings until they could bild airtight cases and complete the CYA needed to protect themselves?

The Consequences of Obama: Terrorism is Back

by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann

January 5, 2010

Timidity and caution have become the order of the day in our intelligence community. The failure of the intelligence operatives to pass along the information about the Ft. Hood shooter or the airline bomber did not flow from a blind spot or a lack of co-ordination, they stemmed from terrorism of a different sort -- the terror of making a mistake and falling on the harsh mercies of Eric Holder.

Terrorism happened under Bush. In fact, it happened faster under Bush than under Obama.

I didn't say it was okay and neither did Obama...

The point is that you want to blame the CEO because a peon was informed and decided it wasn't urgent enough to tell anyone....

Someone wanted to claim that Obama picked the ambassador to Nigeria and that the people at that embassy were "Obama's" and I was simply pointing out that this was not the case. That ambassador was a Bush appointee. (And this is not meant to say that this incident is Bush's fault either, BTW, so don't go there... )

I'm reminded of a quaint little speech in 1964 for Barry -- no relation to Obama at all -- Goldwater.

Quote:
Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy "accommodation." And they say if we'll only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he'll forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers.
source

Well of course the warmonger mantra has disappeared. That rhetoric cleared up when Obama was elected.. Of course now we seem to be looking at even more middle eastern states with bent eyebrows. Any day those people who screamed warmonger in every sentence will be right back out.. right?
