I am pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) but I had heard that it was the Tea Party folks themselves that started calling themselves that. Clearly they weren't aware of the sexual connotation.
I have been to a couple of them and never heard anyone call themselves that.
oh I'm sure it wasn't an official...seems to me that it did come from the members themselves. It's a pretty obscure sexual term so I am quite sure there are many (especially on the religious right) who have no idea what it is...
I have neither the time nor the inclination to do any research but perhaps someone else does.
Oh by the way, I personally am not the least bit scared of the "movement"...althought it is a bit embarassing to the Republican side of things.

I do have children and I have no problem with cutting spending and decreasing debt. I personally hate politics, hate politicians, but I mostly hate ignorant people who don't think deeply about the issues the country is facing, and boil it all down to, "I hate that Barry Hussain Obama" and "I'm gonna get my guns ready". Somehow, this to me, is human nature at it's worst.

Yeah but that person doesnt go around correcting others spelling like they are better then while making their own " typos"

But I am done with this. Guess we are all human and make mistakes and I try hard to not make a habit of pointing out others because I have my own. To bad more doesnt get that hint hint. Cause none of us are perfect and you did that just to try and make yourself appear better then that person
Maybe that person isnt the best speller and you do spell better then they do but maybe they can do something better then you can. Should they point it out in your face and try and make you feel small?
