I've noticed a number of threads where people fight back and forth about whether or not the recent record cold proves or disproves global warming, err "climate change".
I've noticed that AGW acolytes faithful recite mantra's like "local events don't make a trend". "Cold snaps don't prove a trend", etc, etc. Yet, when the reverse happens, they jump on it as "proof".
Take the hurricane season of 2005.
When Katrina hit, there were thousands of articles about how "global warming" was making more hurricanes. Of course, now that we have had a number of years of below average activity, that silly notion as dropped. Leave it to Time and Newsweek, barometers of public gullibility
Is Global Warming Fueling Katrina? - TIME
The AGW cultists tell others, "cold temperatures mean nothing" just a blip, except they use warm temperatures as "proof" and an above average season as "proof". Yet the last couple of years they have continued to predict terrible hurricane seasons and yet, as almost to make them look foolish, each season has been FAR quieter than predicted.
2006 esd predicted to be a year with 17 named storms
EXTENDED RANGE FORECAST OF ATLANTIC SEASONAL HURRICANE ACTIVITY FOR 2006
2006 was remarkably calm, with 1/2 of the predicted number. Way below historical norms, very much the opposite of what was predicted and certainly against what was predicted with "global warming". Refer to the Time article above.
They can't even accurately predict a single hurricane season, but they will regail you with stories of AGW disaters if you don't give them all your money and freedom NOW!
