If people question anything, don't resort to logic, just denounce them as evil and against the cause.

Direct them to buy something or donate money to "Help the cause", and soak the money up.

The same thing was done with the fears about gun laws, many store owners benefited mightily from it. Same thing is being done with gold and Glenn Beck. It's considered insider trading to tell people to invest in something the person already owns without telling them the person does (so people scream bloody murder to denounce those who question it). Now it's just being done again.

It's easily to tolerate this stuff when it's known to just be fleecing the stupid of their money through stroking their misdirected indignation. Even better when people who find the fleecing are screamed at by the fleeced that are defending the scammer. People then feel worse after being made poorer and poorer as each scammer takes bites out of their resources, making people feel even more outrage at the straw man their anger is misdirected towards. It's like a farce that gets better with time.
Or you could give your money to the homeless man and assume he won't head straight to the liquor store for his next brown bag.

The point is, giving money to a cause you believe in comes with all kinds of risks. People know that and they accept it. Using your logic, people might as well hold onto their money and throw all chances of the cause succeeding to the wind.

I shake my head at the absence of logic in some posts on this forum. This post would be one of them.

You got it right. They all do it.

The NRA does it: "The guvmint is gonna take all yer gunz."

The enviro's do it: "We're all gonna glow in the dark."

The fundies do it: "Gay marriage will DESTROY the sacred institution of marriage."

The list goes on and on. Fear sells. And it rakes in BILLIONS of sucker dollars every year.

Why do you think Obama used fear to sell his stimulus

If we dont do this we might not ever recover is what Obama said about the stimulus

Now with healthcare Obama says that if we dont pass his healthcare bill the country will go bankrupt. Guess you are suppose to ignore all the other spending him and Bush did that can bankrupt the country. Healthcare passage alone will prevent it

Why do you think Obama is using fear to pass his policies?
