Tam told the court that he was harassed and his property vandalized during the campaign, and feared similar retribution if he continued to represent gay marriage foes' interest in the lawsuit and trial.

"In the past I have received threats on my life, had my property vandalized and am recognized on the streets due to my association with Proposition 8," Tam said in a court filing. "Now that the subject lawsuit is going to trial, I fear I will get more publicity, be more recognizable and that the risk of harm to me and my family will increase."

The trial hasn't even begun, and it's already getting heated.

That's what he gets. No sympathy from me.

I'm fascinated by this already. It'll be interesting to see the the judge bans cameras from the courthouse after all because of this.

I think vandalizing his property and threats on his life are going a bit far.

Protesting outside his home and things like that are fine.

He should be proud to defend his views if he feels he is so righteous and all that crap. What a freakin' coward.

I agree that the vandalization and threats go too far, but, what do opponents expect? There are gay extremists out there, after all.

Just as there are heterosexual extremists out there as well.
There are extremists on both sides but I am sure there have been more gay people who have been gay bashed by heterosexuals than heterosexuals who were bashed by gays.

There are people on both sides who feel strongly about the issue.
Vandalizing and threatening the man won't change the fact the status of same-sex marriage in CA.

No, but it may very well affect the particulars of this trial.

I predict it will be the trial of the new decade, like the OJ Simpson case back in the 90s.

You are not the first to say that.

When the homosexual agenda is furthered by allowing the trial to be shown on YouTube, what do you expect? I said just the other day, on this forum, that allowing the trial to be broadcast on YouTube was intended to create a groundswell. Obviously, this man fears the publicity that will come with this.

I was right.
