In snippets of the interview broadcast today, Schmidt -- the force behind the 2008 presidential campaign of GOP candidate John McCain -- charges that instead of "Straight Talk," Palin made repeated attempts to deliberately misinform the public.

Example: ordering staff to insist her husband was never a member of a party supporting Alaska independence, though Schmidt says he most certainly was.

Pot meet kettle, i.e., Schmidt was one of the Rovian thugs who cranked up the viral email campaign in the 2000 SC primary that accused John McCain of fathering a child with a black woman. So who is Schmidt to call anyone a serial liar, he's one himself.

The deeper meaning here is that GOP insiders obviously do NOT want the GOP to have anything to do with Sarah Palin, they know she's poison to their aims.

Default McCain aide: Palin believed her candidacy was 'God's plan'

Sarah Palin believed that Sen. John McCain chose her to be his running mate in 2008 because of "God's plan," according to a top political strategist in the Arizona Republican's campaign.

McCain aide: Palin believed candidacy 'God's plan' - washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/10/AR2010011002297.html - broken link)

If Palin's candidacy was part of "God's plan", then I think God needs to have his head examined.
