I'm just curious, with all the many threads and talk of when it would be appropriate to rebel, start a revolution, or engage in seceding from the Union, I have to wonder why one parallel seems to escape those who might promulgate this view.
When various Muslim groups wish to rebel or break away from say, Iraq or Yemen or wherever, there is this almost consensus view that they be labeled as terrorist and must be stopped at all cost for the sake of stability in whatever region. Yet when there is talk of it here, it is of course not seen in a similar light.
While there are a variety of reasons why various groups and people have a desire to revolt or start a revolution in this country, one thing that is almost universal is that these are the same people who wish to categorize others as terrorist and invade or respond militarily to these types events elsewhere.
Is this simple rationalization or an example of American exceptionalism at its worst?
We the People have a Constitution. It's our Lifeline--it's in our blood. It's what makes us different from other Countries. If our Federal government is taking away our Lifeline that is what entitles us to react. We have the RIGHT to demand this!! It's what makes us different from other Countries.
Everything humanly possible will be done to Keep our Rights!
We are fighting a Revolution right now. We will continue to do so in each phase we are presented with. We have the Right too.

You think the US is the only country that has a Constitution?

What a crock!
For damn near 150 years, the U.S. has enjoyed the peaceful and democratic transition of government, a record that no modern nation anywhere in the world can boast. This isn't about the "Federal government" taking away your damned life line, mainly because most of you are totally clueless about the Constitution or the body of laws that have been established by it.
What this is all about is that you lost a damned election, and instead of doing what we have done for 150 years, lick your wounds, get your act together and reenter the electoral ring, you are all clamoring, not for a resumption of democracy but instead just another right wing putsch that would make some South American colonel proud.
I think it's about being able to influence your government.
Secession is an option that gains momentum not just because you currently don't have input into the political process, but because the future doesn't promise you that that situation may change.
In the United States, there will always be some people who feel left out of the process, and who will entertain the idea of secession, but going beyond the idea requires the disenfranchisement to be locally specific, consistent to a certain geographic area, and today, that simply isn't the case.
But in foreign countries, there are areas that are dominated by certain religious, ethnic, or social groups that are geographically isolated from the rest of the country, and who can implement the idea of secession. For instance, the Kurds in Turkey and Iraq are concentrated in a specific geographical area, and have a clear, consistent identity independent of the countries in which they reside. Secession becomes a must stronger possibility in those situations.
The justification for secession then becomes the primary determinant of how the world views the secessionists. For instance, is their a history of violence against the proposed secessionists? Have they been politically disenfranchised? Economically disenfranchised? Is their social isolation sanctioned legally as well as culturally? The fight to control your own destiny is the fight of the freedom fighter, but in today's global context, the freedom fighter has to make the case that autonomy is needed, and that a violent separation is the only option. And the fight has to have the possibility of success. Tibet, for instance, can argue for independence, and has substantial international support, but has little chance of success because its foe is China. So violent separation is not an option, and other strategies are more viable.
There are many ways to fight a REVOLUTION. Losing the election has nothing to do with my thoughts. I don't agree with what is happening in our Country and will use what ever it takes to put us back on the road for real hope and change. Millions of Americans are speaking the same language. It's peacefully LOUD!
