Reporting from Washington - The U.S. Supreme Court, acting on an appeal from conservative defenders of California's ban on same-sex marriage, overruled a federal judge in San Francisco today and blocked video coverage of the trial on YouTube.
In a brief order, the justices said they were halting the move by U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker "permitting real-time streaming" of the trial, "except as it permits streaming to other rooms within the confines of the courthouse in which the trial is to be held."
Excellent decision. The viewing was just another bullying tactic by the radical gay activists and their supporters to intimidate prop 8 advocates.
Just 100 percent HORRIBLE. These people had no problem denying gays the right to marriage. So now they should show their faces and stand behind their decision.
Tell the nation how proud they are of their decision to vote against basic rights.
That's fine. A lack of cameras didn't stop courts from overturning the ban on interracial marriage, or invalidating sodomy laws, or overturning Brown v. Board Of Education, etc. - all to the consternation of most conservatives.
Cameras aren't required in order for the courts to do their job.

Actually, I'm looking forward to seeing how Scalia handles this case. He said himself that the decision in Lawrence v. Texas would make it difficult for the court to uphold a bans on same-sex marriage. His own words are going to come back to haunt him.
