You know who insists on bringing this topic up over & over again? Ignorant, mentally unstable paranoids. These same people claim they're not being paranoid....lol, it's textbook.
It is xenophobic garbage that only came up because Obama was elected. It's embarassing to watch.
Actually it is an issue that is not uncommon. I recall it was raised when Goldwater ran for president because he was born in Arizona when it was still a territory and not yet a state. And, of course, it was raised about McCain's eligibility because he was born in the Panama Canal zone. So it is a legitimate issue because the Constitution makes it a legitimate issue.
Clause 5: Qualifications for office No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Don't they teach anything in the schools anymore?
More Hyperbole by the Birthers, any such law would be Unconstitutional on at least five different levels, Just proposed to rally the simple minded. Orli Taitz could get elected in Arizona.
Why don't we have a National Referendum on this issue? Put Obama on the 2012 presidential ballots in all the states. Then the voters will decide if he is a qualified candidate with a legitimate right to run.
Sounds like the RWA's are afraid of the challenge.
BTW - IIRC only ONE parent has to be an American citizen for the child to be a lawful citizen of the USA

Rep. Judy Burges, R-Skull Valley, is preparing a law to require anyone running for president or vice president to provide proof to the Arizona Secretary of State's Office that they are legally eligible to seek the office. The U.S. Constitution requires the president — and, by extension, the vice president — to be "a natural born citizen."
The kind of certification Burges wants, though, could be more difficult than simply checking for a valid birth certificate, as the arguments about his legal qualification go beyond whether he was actually born in Hawaii.
Burges believes that Obama is not a natural born citizen because he doesn't have 2 US citizen parents.
I agree that a vault copy of a persons birth certificate needs to be presented not any other copy.
This is the constitution of our country and we have to make sure without a doubt what happened with obama and the questions dont happen again.

AND racists. . . don't forget that! What is worse, these are not the "out in the open, racists. . . they are the hidden ones that either do not know they are racists, or deny it to achieve their ends!
Just reading the article, that rep is a huge joke. There are actual problems that the country needs to deal with and they spend their time on shlock like this.
There isnt much more important then upholding and following the constitution of this country.
