If you cannot make up your mind in three months, then it is your problem. You are pretty much half way through so just carry onnnn!

Ah ok. Sorry didn't mean to get off topic.

I would characterize that type of policy as representing conservative solutions and conservative ideals. Fairness to all parties concerned. Not sure who authored that plan and don't mean to shortchange credit where it's due (for all I know progressives may have hammered it out), but it does represent an example of conservative way to go about things.
No, not when it involves my family, but, as an individual I might. I do my best to anticipate probable outcomes and be proactive.

ANYTHING YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT ABOUT CONSERVATISM!
you can skip all of this nonsense and just sum it up with 2 points:
1) You want to keep the money you earn as opposed to handing it over to the Gov't in taxes.
2) You want personal freedom undetered by Gov't policy.

Everything else is just distraction.

TLV, I'm old enough to be your mother, almost *too* old to be your mother, actually. My youngest daughter is a year older than you. Anyway, I learned a long time ago, there's really no such thing as "common sense", and it's usually used as a coverup for "I want to do it MY way", or as a put down to anyone who has more education than the person making the statement.

You can't be conservative, your thoughts on this thread sound more like someone's a$$ after eating to many prunes. It is this false verbal puke that fuels your puny brain and to come on this thread to insult the thread originator plus anyone else who trys to be helpful is an insult to your own conservative/liberal counter parts.

Sorry TLV, I couldn't hold that back.

Without a strong military, we would not be able to respond to crisis or project influence when necessary. An example would be the earthquake in Haiti, the Tsunami in Indonesia, or the hurricane in New Orleans. Another prime example would be the dozens of evacuations and rescue missions conducted by our military over the past several decades. Many of which were tasked with getting Americans out of countries that were on the verge of collapse or where a coup was in process. There is nothing worse than a country being caught with their pants down, a prime example being Shay's Rebellion. The US had no armed forces to put down the rebellion, and the event was a key contributor to the creation of the Constitution. Another event - or series of events - is the raids against the Barbary pirates.

Also, I do not believe in waiting until our airplanes are falling out of the sky to replace them. Without Conservative politicians there would be no B-2 Spirits, F22 Raptors, C130 Hercules, or a plethora of other aircraft and equipment. Conservatives, especially Reagan, believed very strongly in our space program as well.

  • How important are gun rights?
Too important to compromise. Hunting is a popular activity for subsistence, and it is hard to find a farmer that does not own at least one gun.

Quote:
  • Do you think conservatives as a whole will ever accept gay marriage/pro choice?
Gay marriage maybe, pro-choice no way.

Quote:
  • What beliefs are the US based on? Do some conservatives actually have somewhat socialism views-like UHC?
Not sure what you are asking here, but I am sure there are Conservatives who support UHC.

Quote:
  • Where does religion/Church play a role?
Sunday mornings, and occasionally Wednesdays.

Quote:
  • Any Conservative for union? Why so anti union?
Most unions are monopolies. If someone is dissatisfied with their union, they cannot just quit and find another. Instead, they are usually fired from the job as many employers require membership to the union as a condition of employment, per their agreement with the union. I do not believe in conspiring behind the back of your employer and creating a rift, I instead support direct dialog and laws that prevent an employer from discriminating against you or firing you for asking for a raise or additional benefits.

Quote:
  • Do you support states leaving the USA?
Only if 75% of the population of that state wishes to leave the union. Two thirds of the other states should also have to agree to a state leaving.

Quote:
  • Death penalty? Yes or no?
Yes, but only in extreme cases such as child rapists and serial killers.

Quote:
  • Are women's right important? How important?
As in abortion rights? Generally along the lines of Roe v. Wade, except abortions must be performed in the first 4 months, with the procedure in the last 5 only if the mother's life is in danger. Really it belongs as a state issue with those guidelines.

Quote:
  • How do conservatives believe we can reform education? (THIS IS A BIG CONCERN TO ME! OUR COUNTRY IS FALLING BEHIND)
Really the only way to go is a national curriculum. Not exactly a Conservative principle, and I hate to say it since it violates state's rights, but it still is going to be the most effective way to fix the education system.

Quote:
  • What is the worst political mistake in history? (nothing from at least 20 years ago)
Watergate.

Quote:
  • How do conservatives believe we can help the poor people (who are truly on welfare and not abusing it for help but cannot find jobs)?
Stuff like this:

Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

or the EITC

Quote:
  • Illegal immigration? What do you think?
Illegal immigration is against the law. Those that break the law should be treated like criminals and deported. Running across the border illegally is just as much of a crime as robbing a convenience store. There is no such thing as a crime of necessity. Millions of people in the past immigrated to this country legally, and many continue to do so to this day. The fact that some choose to avoid the process (which includes vaccinations and quarantine to prevent spread of disease) is rather disturbing.

We are the only Western country that is lax when it comes to immigration law and enforcement.

Good luck with your book! It is a huge undertaking and a lot of work..

If both liberals and conservatives adopted humbler stances, started talking to voters like grown-ups, and communicated in terms of process costs and trade-offs rather than in terms of finding cure-all solutions, we would all be much better off.
I can tell you by reading your posts son that you did not understand a damn word of it!

I feel like writing a book to let a lot off my chest and to see how much I learned. I want to go over issues in modern US politics and stand where I stand and why!

But I need some help from the Conservative friends here. You know who you are!

If you could please go over your stances on following and why you believe it, it would be awesome. I want to see if I can see it from your point of view and write about it.

Also, if you choose to reply please let me know if I can "quote" you in my writings. Thank you!

I look forward to it!
And no, I do not have any political classes. This is solely for my enjoyment. And if you intend on coming and commenting, please try to be serious. Thanks!

Oh and if you want to say something to me but not on here, you can DM me some beliefs. Thanks.
  • Why so pro military? There are perhaps 500,000 brave young men and women standing between you and perhaps 5,000,000,000 that would like to be in your position.
  • How important are gun rights? Guns are the front line defense of your front and back door against an evil contengency of people that would do you harm. Guns in the general populace dissuade megalomaniacs or groups of megalomaniacs from seeking absolute power.
  • Do you think conservatives as a whole will ever accept gay marriage/pro choice? Two questions that both deserve an answer. No, they will not accept gay marriage. Homosexuality has been seen as an aberration of human behavior for thousands of years. Some societies accepted it better than others. Most conservatives I believe, would agree that it is not a behavior of the natural inclination of man/woman and therefore should not be condoned. Most of us do not believe homosexuals should be treated differently insulted or assaulted but should not receive some special categorical treatment and should keep it to themselves. Pro choice is a womans right to choose to sleep with a man she does not intend to marry. We are each of us responsible for our actions and taking a life for sake of personal convenience is not acceptable.
  • What beliefs are the US based on? Do some conservatives actually have somewhat socialism views-like UHC? Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The country was founded on Judeo/Christian beliefs. Socialism and conservatism are antithetical.
  • Where does religion/Church play a role?It is the foundation of our laws. It is the moral compass of our people.
  • Any Conservative for union? Why so anti union? Unions have their place to balance the requirements of fairness. Unbalanced power in the management or the labor sectors lead to injustice.
  • Do you support states leaving the USA? No
  • Death penalty? Yes or no? Yes, each citizen is aware of the responsibilities of the rule of law and the greatest transgressors should recieve the greatest penalties.
  • Are women's right important? How important? Of course women should be treated equal to men.
  • How do conservatives believe we can reform education? (THIS IS A BIG CONCERN TO ME! OUR COUNTRY IS FALLING BEHIND) There should be competition with the public school systemn and this is where there should truly be choice. The public school system has become the greatest enemy of freedom in the world today. They are incubators of radical liberalism.
  • What is the worst political mistake in history? (nothing from at least 20 years ago) Rowe vs Wade. The ultimate evolution of society, if we make it there, will reveal this decision as the foundation for Americas holocaust.
  • How do conservatives believe we can help the poor people (who are truly on welfare and not abusing it for help but cannot find jobs)? In the normal course of events most people that want jobs can find them. The demographics of the inner cities are of a huge problem. I would support enterprize zones to employ those sectors. Not half hearted enterprize zones but for real enterprize zones to provide disadvantaged people the opportunities they deserve. Also education incentives. Also a real war against crime in those same zones.
  • Illegal immigration? What do you think? If you enter this country illegally you should be deported. Why should we spend billions of dollars to guard the front door and leave the back door wide open. This is one of the more formidable mistakes of America.
  • ANYTHING YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT ABOUT CONSERVATISM! Learn it and be it don't just give it lip service.
