Seems as if some people have no clue as to how the Amish live. They are just judging this as a religion based thing.

Amish and Old Order Mennonites are pretty socialist in their approach to welfare of their own. Someone needs help -- illness, fires, deaths -- they don't pi$$ and moan about how much it costs them to take care of the others, they just do it. It's how God wants them to live.

For that matter, it isn't unheard of for them to come to the aid of those outside their community. My Haitian relief donation is going to the Mennonite Central Committee.

Anyone who can't understand why the Amish are exempt from mandated insurance just don't have a logical bone in their body and/or they don't have a grasp of how truly different these people live from the rest of us.

hmm i thought the transparency was supposed to be the discussions were going to be on CSPAN (thats what Obama said)

and that Obama wouldnt pull a Bush/Cheney and have secret meetings with big business.

B/C are accused of doing this with big oil....not sure what big oil got out of it.

Obama did it with Big Pharma and Big Pharma has spent millions on ads supporting Obamacare....

But I get what you are saying here. If "my" side does it and "it" gets me what I want, I wont complain.

it is kind of sick isnt it?

The Amish are kind of a non-starter... but will you defend the Union exemption on the so called Cadillac plans?

I've already given my two cents on that topic on several of the union threads. This is an Amish thread. But I will say this: don't assume that all union workers have Cadillac plans. They don't. And you don't have to be in a union to have that kind of plan either. 40% of Americans have them.

No one can defend that. I hope it gets thrown out when they blend the house and senate versions together.
