The Rachel Maddow Show and Hardball devoted a total of more than two hours to the earthquake and these are not news shows either. It is very clear what is important to these people and what they consider priority.
yep, and what is going on in OUR country is a priority. Sorry, move along.
They had different ideas on what should be covered on their shows. I doubt it's because they don't care. Without making a judgement about either, I get tired of continuous coverage. I watch to see what happened, but can get the picture without seeing it all day and all night.
Yup, such as covering Palin nonstop.....
Its one thing not to have complete wall to wall coverage. Its a totally different story to devote less than 7 minutes in a 3 hours worth of programming to a major tragedy.

I don't watch the rest but O'Reilly has discussed it every night and had Dr.'s on that do work in Haiti from a charity that he endorses. He interviewed Palin last week. I haven't suffered from a lack of Haiti coverage.
If you're talking about priorities, it's ratings that's the priority for all of them.
On January 13, Fox News' three top-rated programs for 2009 -- The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity, and Glenn Beck -- devoted a combined total of less than 7 minutes of coverage to the earthquake in Haiti, instead choosing to air such things as Beck's hour-long interview with Sarah Palin, Bill O'Reilly's discussion of Comedy Central host Jon Stewart, and Sean Hannity's advocacy for Massachusetts candidate Scott Brown's Senate campaign. By contrast, the content of MSNBC's three top-rated shows underscored the significance of the Haiti disaster; Countdown, The Rachel Maddow Show, and Hardball devoted a total of more than two hours to the earthquake
How can anyone argue that these entertainers report real news?
How much is there to report? Haiti, while a true disaster, is a foreign country and does not affect America, so why spend endless hours on it? Plus, why should a #1 rated news show follow MSNBCs format?

You are right... those three programs are journalists and entertainers. Their programs air on Fox News Channel, but it isn't viewed as news.
When reading the article, did you even stop to think "I wonder why Media Matters only focused on those 3 programs rather than the WHOLE channel?"
Ill tell you why. Because in their effort to make Fox News look bad, they had to play games with the numbers. They had to focus on those three talking heads shows to try and prove that Fox News isn't actually a news channel. Media Matters is playing games, and you are buying into it. Then you come here to spout off about junked up data.
Please, stop listening to Media Matters... they are no better than the talking heads on Fox you so despise.

It is a major world disaster, its a massive story, many Americans are directly impacted by it. Sucking up to Palin for an hour is not more important than this story.

Its also the three major shows of this "News" network. The highest rated shows of this "News" network. Regardless if it is technically commentary or not (which isn't how Fox portrays the shows anyway) it deserves more than 7 minutes of coverage in a 3 hour period.
