WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As many as 80 million Americans have been infected with H1N1 swine flu, up to 16,000 have been killed and more than 360,000 hospitalized, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

But 90 percent of the most vulnerable people remain unvaccinated, with only about 61 million Americans having received shots, the CDC said.

And how did they come up with that statistic if they aren't testing ?

For me, I didn't/haven't, that's all that matters to me. Selfish? Damned right.

The vaccine is now available to everyone, everywhere. I can't pass a drugstore without seeing a giant "H1N1 VACCINE HERE" sign.

My family isn't getting this vaccine and I think my daughter already had this flu anyway.

I also have a hard time believing that over 25% of our country had H1N1

Don't you recall they only tested those folks admitted to hospitals due to this ? Others with flu symptoms were not tested by hospitals. Doctors did not test all their flu patients either.

Here..back from October 2009. The CDC made that decision..no testing and no tracking. How and where are they now getting these estimates.
I hope people don't have short memories.

Swine Flu Cases Overestimated? - CBS News

snippet:
"In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases. The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?"

Umm, if this was the case, then the 80 Million IS the minimum of H1N1 cases Nothing to dispute there.
