Would you support (or not) a war on Iran? If so why?

I am against a preemptive strike on Iran.

Declaring war on Iran would open up a much bigger can of worms than Iraq did.

However, I must say that the President of Iran is nuts, and the thought of him acquiring nuclear capability is chilling. Ask many of the citizens there what they think and they'll likely tell you the same thing.

Nafster you did a good bit a hedging there. If you know that one of your kids had threatened to do harm on another person and was trying to get a hold of a weapon, you may not act, but when you knew they got a hold of one would you then act? I know I would. Why would we let the president of Iran to thumb his nose at us and the rest fo the world and not have any punishment. The first thing that would happen if he used WMD on any other country would be bleeding hearts here screaming why didn't we stop him when we knew. Wake up and let's not let the monster act, but not go in until we know for a fact he has WMD and the world community is with us.

Seems as if some people have an extremely short memory. I'd recommend reading up on Iraq/WMD, or maybe watch this:

Unhappy Not, IF, WHEN!

The USA is NOT supporting the protesters in Iran in their attempt to topple the horrible Iranian regime.

Obama, unlike Reagan, does NOT support the protesters against a corrupt enemy regime, as Obama wants to negotiate with madman Iranian dictators mullahs.

So a conflict with Iran is inevitable. It will either be soon after an Israeli strike, when the Iranians attack US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan afterwards

or

It will be later, after Iran supplies a nuke to a terrorist group, which will easily get inside the USA by being walked across the US-Mexico border and detonated it.

It's game-on with Iran, regardless of what we do (or don't do). The question is WHEN, not if!

A horrible situation, but is there any way around it?? Obama is a weakling, Israel is terrified and is heavily armed, and Iran is filled with nutjobs in power.

A recipe for disaster if you ask me!!

I voted against preemptive War against Iran. I wouldn't be completely against some strategic strikes in Iran if we had intelligence of WMD's, however we would need much stronger intelligence than what was used to justify the Iraq debacle,

Outside an imminent direct attack by Iran on the U.S (which again would have to be based on intelligence far greater than Iraq) I would be against sending ground troops in Iran under any other circumstances. After being at war for the past 8+ years, closing in on 7 years of two wars our military is stretched too thin. Even as the Iraq war numbers dwindle and come to an end its going to take awhile for our Military to be able to recover from the damage the Iraq debacle has caused.

USA lived a complete triumph in Iraq,a full victory, regardless of the smear campaign of the far left & the frustration of the people ( after the first 3 years) ...

We can replicate this success in Iran...It is another paper tiger...After a month of leveling bombardment ,no one will pose serious opposition to our invading forces... We are invincible...

With better logistics, better armouring & more care for the soldiers rather than their equipment,we can experience another full victory, establish a new regime & watch Ahmadinezant being hung from a crane, they way he hangs freedom fighters now...

Otherwise,he will develop nukies & direct suicide missions with portable nukes against Israel & USA...

Those who follow the line of the antiamersemitic coalition of Socialist International & advocate against "preemptive strikes " ,Chamberlain-style before WW2, are antiamerican, antisemites & unpatriotic elements...

This is that Cold War mentality I was talking about.

No, it's not inevitable. You want to believe it's inevitable because you're a chickenhawk. Iran is changing. The younger generation is much more liberal than the older generations. Old people are dying off. It's only a matter of time before Iran rejoins the rest of the world. Obama is trying to not screw it up and p1ss off another generation of Iranians. That's called long term thinking.

Fear fear fear fear fear. Cold War mentality. We're at the edge of oblivion so we must force everyone to do.what.we.want. Chicken little.

This is simply not true.

Obama is doing exactly what I would be doing if I were in his shoes. Talking is better than shooting from the hip. Republicans have become absolute retards when it comes to foreign policy. They think we're still in the Cold War and we always have to "look strong" or else the Soviets will nuke us. The world has changed. The only question is, will Republicans also change before they relegated to the annals of history.
