In order to vote someone out, you have to vote someone in. Who will that be, Trump, Palin, Huckabee, Newt, hahahahahah.

Or, split the national debt up 50 ways, and allow each state to buy their way out .. you know .. purchase their freedom ..

Or .. A Constitutional Convention could be put on by 3/4 of the states, in which those who want to leave, could do it quite legally via a few Constitutional rewrites ..

Your so-called political losers would never amount to anything other than keeping you liberal hacks distracted just long enough for the rest of us to leave.

I'm not from the south, nor am I a southerner by any stretch of the imagination.

If you were ever to listen, you might hear the grumblings going on in the Pacific Northwest .. Alaska .. the Northeast.

Get a clue .. one day you are going to wake up and discover Washington State is gone .. the next day, Oregon and Montana .. the next week, Alaska and Vermont will be gone .. and so it goes .. right on down the line.

The "Y'all Come Back Now" tripe you spew will only serve to haunt you as you try to figure out whether or not Wyoming left before or after Oprah came on.

North and South Dakota will leave you during American Idol, and Texas will start selling your natural gas to Canada, and in a few days your TV won't work because your local power plant is shut down ..

Any American that thinks that it's "just the Southland" that wants to leave, should pull their head out and take a look around.

Sure .. the South tried to leave once .. it didn't work out well at the time .. Who's to say that it won't work out today? .. what with so many States grumbling ..

You might be surprised to learn of just how many States are calling for a Constitutional Convention .. and .. if the States are successful in getting the Constitutional Convention they are calling for, you might be forced to face the fact that you'll lose over half of your nation without even a single shot being fired.

Go read your Constitution while you can .. and understand that under the Constitution, States are well within their rights to force our Congress to do their bidding.

If States want to leave, they will, and it will be legal ..

As an added note, the Federal Government is treating the States exactly like it treats nations in the Middle East .. in that if they give the States enough money, it'll keep them quiet ..

Look at all of the billions of dollars that our Federal Government doles out to the Middle East, and then take a look at all of the billions of dollars the Federal Government doles out to the States ..

In the Middle East, if one nation gets unruly, the United States bombs them .. in the United States, chances are good that if one State gets unruly, it too will be bombed ..

It will take 3/4 of the States to stand together on this, and they will, via our Constitution, put the Federal Government back in it's place.

Quote:
Most recently, there has been a major movement to pass a federal balanced budget amendment. Unable to get action in Congress, supporters again turned to the convention method of amendment. To date, those behind the balanced budget amendment have convinced 32 states to submit convention petitions to Congress. Backers of the amendment need only two more states to compel Congress to call a convention.
Quote:
Another point of anxiety is that Article V of the Constitution says nothing about what a convention may or may not do. If a convention is held, must it deal with only one proposed amendment? Or could the delegates vote on any number of amendments that were introduced? The Constitution itself provides no answers to these questions.

Yes, let the South go. They are nothing but a suck on the federal budget. The fact is that the Southern states receive more in federal spending than they pay in federal taxes. States like New York and California receive on pennies on the dollar of federal taxes paid - it amounts to Southern Welfare at the expense of the North. Northern states would be better off without the South taking more than their fair share and trying to force feed their backward agenda on everyone else. Facts are pesky little things - the North provides the money, and the South feeds at the trough like pigs. If the South were to secede, then we could lower taxes in the North, and they'd have to raise taxes in the South to pay for all of the stuff they get now.

Don't believe it? Check it out - here's what these states receive for every dollar in taxes they contribute:

Mississippi ($1.77)
Alabama ($1.71)
Arkansas ($1.47)
Louisiana ($1.45)
Oklahoma ($1.48)
Missouri ($1.29)
Tennessee ($1.30)
South Carolina ($1.38)
North Carolina ($1.10)
Virginia ($1.66)
West Virginia ($1.83)
Texas ($1.14)
Kentucky ($1.45)

Now let's take a look at those Northern "liberal" states that the tax-sucking Southerners love to howl about:

California ($0.79)
New York ($0.79)
New Jersey ($0.55)
Massachusetts ($0.77)
Connecticut ($0.66)
Delaware ($0.79)
Michigan ($0.85)
Illinois ($0.73)
Minnesota ($0.69)
Washington ($0.88)
Wisconsin ($0.82)
Oregon ($0.97)
Rhode Island ($0.94)
Vermont ($0.67)
New Hampshire ($0.67)
Pennsylvania ($0.79)

Does that seem fair? Good luck to you, my dear Southern friends. As they say, "America - love it or leave it." Buh-bye.

The reality is we are an occupied nation and have been for the last 150 years.

I'm guessing you never heard of the Alaskan Independence Party or the Republic of Cascadia (Oregon, Washington, British Columbia)?

Meaning disatisfaction is rife within the union. That's kinda what we've been talking about throughout this thread. Nice of you to join in on this conversation. I like to blame the problems of this nation on american liberals and their success at identity politics. However, having said that, no nation without a common language, culture, or even functional borders will stand forever. I wouldn't have a problem with the northwest or vermont or any other state leaving the union. I'm all for it in point of fact.
