For all practical purposes the United States has taken over Haiti. We are sending more and more troops every day and by the time it is over we will have sent in billions of dollars in aid and military support,

Considering most people in Haiti are unemployed, hungry and broke and do not know how to read and write, and there is no infrastruture or economy, I suspect that it will be a basket case for decades.

In the long run don't you suspect that Haiti will be the 51st State or at a minimum something like America Samoa or Puerto Rico?

We are doing more than just helping out a neighbor in a time of need, we have basically taken over.

Will we ever be able to pull out of Haiti without being called racist?

I think you're exagarating just a touch. I mean we're helping Haiti out after they've suffered a terrible natural disaster. Plenty of countries are not just the US. So I wouldn't go as far as saying that Haiti will become a US territory just because we're helping out in a time of need. I think its nice to help the less fortunate.

Nope, not going to happen. This isn't the 1800 or 1900's. We can't just annex another country, without the will of the people, and the international community involved.

Honestly, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to annex Haiti, economically. We have little to gain from annexation. Support yes, as it stabilizes the government, and reduces the chance of a radical government being raised within our own hemisphere.

Haiti will NOT become our 51st state.

It will become our 58th.
