The $ that the rich Arabs coughed up for Haiti total up to what....about 30 seconds worth of pumping at their hundreds of oil and gas wells? I never said they gave nothing...again, look at the link provided in post 54.
And filthy-rich Iran. That's another story. One plane load to the devastated people of Haiti and billions$ to Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Iraqi gangs murdering American soldiers.
Very interesting article apropos the thread subject. The measly response of the rich Arabs vs. the response of Israel, a "clash of civilizations": American Thinker Blog: Clash of civilizations in Haiti
"Saudi Arabia, brimming with trillions in oil revenues, sent a letter of condolences to Haitian President Rene Preval. Oil-rich Kuwait chipped in $1 million, as did Morocco. Qatar, with the third largest gas reserves in the world, managed to scrape together only a 50-ton aid package. The United Arab Emirates, noted for its conspicuous oil wealth, promised to "shortly" send a planeload of humanitarian assistance.
Now, contrast this picture of Arab frugality in the face of a human catastrophe of biblical dimensions with Israel's far more generous and warmhearted response.
In the immediate aftermath of the quake, the Israeli Home Command dispatched two planeloads with 220 aid-and-rescue personnel and a full-fledged field hospital capable of treating 500 patients a day. It's the most modern medical facility in Haiti today. Staffed by 40 doctors, the hospital is equipped with a medical lab, a pharmacy, an X-ray center, a children's ward, an emergency room, a surgical department, two operating rooms, and a maternity ward.
In short order, Israeli doctors performed 25 life-saving surgeries and assisted in the births of three babies, including one baby boy whose grateful mother decided to call him "Israel." The first couple of planes from Israel brought tons of medicines and other supplies. A third planeload followed over the weekend."
Bill Clinton hails Israel aid mission to Haiti - Haaretz - Israel News
"In the name of the aid workers that operated in Haiti, in the name of the people who live there, and on a personal level I want to thank, we all want to thank, Israel from the bottom of our hearts," Clinton said.

If the UN has a budget of nearly 14 BILLLION dollars, why weren't they in the forefront? What does the world get for all the dues that are paid to it? Maybe its time to move the UN building to another country so thay can get a better feel of the world instead of living off of all the perks of NYC (fyi - they don't even pay sales tax in the US).
It great all these countries came to the aid of Haiti, but why wasn't a UN force mobilized?
Disingenuous posters deserve to be called out - and you did so very succinctly
I think you're missing the entire point of the OP. You cite sources that demonstrate that some of the rich Arab states and Iran made some donations. That does not contradict the point of the thread.
The point is not that they gave absolutely nothing. The point is that, relative to their enormous wealth, they gave next to nothing. Evidence for this has been cited by various posters in posts 16, 29, 46, 47, 54, 62. Post #47 is particularly damning because the evidence comes from a well-respected ARAB source.

Israel, a nation of 7.5 million people has sent a team of 220 people that include Medical personnel and will establish the largest field hospital in Haiti, treating up to 5000 people a day, an experienced Search and Rescue team and medical supplies. As in previous earthquake disasters, such as in Gujarat India in 2001 and in Turkey, in the bombings in Kenya, Israel has been one of the most generous givers of aid and assistance
Just because you didn't hear it on US Corporate Media doesn't mean it's not happening.
Cuba, Venezuela, Chile, Nicaragua, Spain, Guatemala, France, Mexico and Russia all sent aid within 48 hours.
Cuba sent, within hours of the quake, 400+ people to Haiti, over 300 of them health care workers. On the first day they treated 800 Haitians and performed 19 surgical interventions before the first US teams arrived.
Venezuela also immediately sent 20 doctors and 10 firefighters who specialize in search and rescue along with 20 others.
Easily mobilizing aid, is sometimes easier for those darn countries with socialist medical practices.
Some places have given in people, and others in dollars.
To those in Haiti, does it matter where it's from?

I went through the exercise. I followed the links. The information in the story is simple inaccurate.

Hroub referred to a comparison of the pledges of aid by countries and organizations all over the world published in The Guardian. The British newspaper claimed that United States has pledged the most money, amounting to around $160 million, followed by Canada and the World Bank.
No Arab countries were listed among the top 20 donor countries and organizations in The Guardian's list. The first appearance of an Arab nation is the United Arab Emirates, ranking in 23rd place.[LEFT]
