At least some of them, including Washington and Jefferson. But were they "great men" or just "racists"?
In their time, it was acceptable. Today, we just call it "having a job". You work for someone else, even if you have your own company.
I agree with you; the Southern Culture accepted and embraced slavery. When they could no longer enslave, they resorted to segregation and other mode of oppression. Exactly my point. Thanks for making it.
the flag
from a great lover of the south
the confederate flag -- pride arrogance and error on a very large scale. the revolt was resisted by some brave souls but the majority carried the ball to failure. we should all learn from this mistake. as to the hatred of the south by AA, this has become a national sport and is of itself a vicious racist tradition. never never reject your own past--- it got you to where you are at. does australia hate england????

Except they did the same thing in the North--except they didn't take care of those people. You can't make it on what we pay you, tough. You know, back before they enforced things like child labor laws, and before there were any unions.

And, of course, the slave traders were Yankees...anything for a buck, after all.

What a wonderful Lost Cause recreation of the world. Yeah there were poor northerners lined up applying for cushy positions as southern slaves back in 1863. It got so bad they passed The Fugitive Factory Worker Law allowing cruel norther mill owners to hunt down their run away mill workers and return them north in chains.

Really. Are you under the impression that there were NO slaves in the North prior to the Civil War? Perhaps you should brush up on your history.
