It's amazing how blind Democrats really are.
A few months ago I saw a reporter ask Obama about some really bad economic reports that came out that day, his response was "that's why it's so important to get health care reform passed".

I couldn't believe how out of touch that answer was. I realize how obsessed the administration was about passing health care but the people were so much more concerned about the general economy than HCR. Maybe he didn't mean to come across that way but that answer made Obama seem so cold and so uncaring about the deep financial pain so many Americans are experiencing. They really made a mistake focusing so much on health care. It's not just conservatves who feel this way plenty of liberals do as well. It was a total misread on the mood of the country.

you people are flat out CRAZY if you thought we'd be able to turn around unemployment that quickly, when in reality 12/08 was still rather early in this crisis. I PROMISE you that no one could have turned around the unemployment rate that quickly...no one...sorry folks, that just shows how uneducated you are about the world of business.

Remember the mood in December 2008? Lot's of people couldn't wait until Obama took office because they thought the economy would improve. The stock market did rebound but most economic fundementals got worse, certainly unemployment.

While unemployment rates went up everywhere from the bluest of the blue to the reddest of the red states (with the exception of the Plains states where unemployment is relatively low)....let's look at red states in 2004 that flipped blue in 2008..these are places that really fell hard for Obama's hope and change.

Unemployment rate 12/08 12/09 source www.bls.gov

Colorado 5.8-7.5
Florida 7.6-11.8
Indiana 7.8-9.9
Iowa 4.4-6.6
Nevada 8.4-13.0
New Mexico 4.7-8.3
North Carolina 8.1-11.2
Ohio 7.4-10.9
Virginia 5.0-6.9

This is not what voters in these purple states expected. Some liberals will get defensive when they see this and blame Bush or say it's out of the administrations control. I would say that's a losing strategy. Like they say it's the economy stupid. Start owning up to this and doing everything possible to improve the situation or expect major losses in November as well as 2012.
You are surprised? The situation was already going downhill in 2008 and nothing Obama did had anything to do with what was going to happen. Obama tried to save jobs by keeping some businesses afloat but there is only so much the government can do since in reality it is a private buisness issue. Now if you are a SOCIALIST you expect the government to provide you with jobs and benefits, most of us do not expect such SOCIALIST actions on the part of our government.

That is the problem with making any kind of prediction. That is why I rarely get involved in predictions, or threads about predictions.

The statements were that if no stimulus was passed the unemployment situation would have been worse than with a stimulus. I see nothing wrong with that statement, and its pretty accurate.

Well the fact of the matter is fixing the healthcare system is directly tied to the health of our economy. We have many foreclosures and bankruptcies that are direct result of health and medical bills, which has a major drag on the economy.
