I would assume that people do not just show up and line up to attend something the President is speaking at, due to security concerns, etc.

You can't compare because you are comparing a stadium versus a place that seats 1100. You are assuming that the 1100 is not a full room for Obama.

My how things change in a year!!!
Maybe that's because some people would rather have a good laugh these days instead of cocentrating on serious issues.

How else do you think people show up?

I am not assuming anything I just asked you about your comment about not everyone can see Obama.

Actually they do.. Obama in Tampa: Live updates

Ashley Moreland, 21, a University of Tampa senior, took a peek over at the Bob Martinez Sports Center at 10:30 last night and saw no one there. At 1:30 a.m. Moreland, who lives on campus, came over with a blanket. Two other people showed up at 2 a.m. It was just the three of them in front of the building for three hours. She wrapped herself in the blanket and took a nap around 6:30 a.m. About 7 a.m., an announcement was made that the line started in a different spot – across the street from where they were. A bunch of people rushed to that location and she wound up 10th in line. She was No. 5 in line yesterday when tickets were distributed. "Why not try to get the best seat you can? People wait longer for Black Friday. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the president at your school," she said. She's an Obama backer and thinks hsr will be a boost to the economy

Republicans and all of those people following them will whine no matter what.

As far as I understand, there is a lottery system, or at least that's what I just found out after asking a friend of mine who worked on the campaign.

You can request a seat, and out of all the requests they pick via lottery.

So again, you can't compare:

A venue that seats 1100 to a stadium
An event that you obtain tickets to via lottery vs. an event that you can purchase a ticket to.

Simple statistics.
