Did anyone notice what the vote was yesterday on the proposal for a pay as you go budgeting rule in the U.S. Senate?

It was 60-40 (http://http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote =00012 - broken link).

To save you the trouble of looking it up, I'll just tell you that it was all forty Republicans who voted against the proposition that spending increases should be paid for by reductions elsewhere in the budget.

Hmmm.

Yeah, this classic along with R Eric Cantor of Virginia denouncing any "Job Bill"...

Haven't Republicans been the one's whining that job creation needs to be the President's focus?

I'm confused....

Like I said, the Republicans have been disappointing, I think they are geared towards bringing Obama down then helping people... they are letting their egos get in front of their brains... but also, I don't know what is "in" the bill specifically so its hard to know if the bill is any good...

Aren't you confused as to why we need a jobs bill when the Stimulus is working wonders?

Jobs bill = Stimulus II More pork!!!

Pay & Go, did you mention all the pork put in with this legislation, that the republicans in no way were going to vote for. A good bill can be really bad, when they pile all types of other sweetheart deals onto it, to sneak it by.
When the republicans, or on the opposite page, the democrats don't fall for it, the other side singles out the good, and says, "look they don't care about doing anything"

It's just like a toddler going through the terrible 2's, no no no no no no no to everything. Doesn't matter if it is in their interest, or their voters interest, they just want to block everything even if they screw themselves.

It's a great way to run anything, not even a counter proposal.

And do not give me this Democrats are bipartisan BS. They could care less about crossing the aisle as well. It is why we are screwed by the two parties.

Are you just Hmmming because no repubs voted in favor of this bill?

Do you know any particulars of this bill?

Maybe you should read up on the bill before casting negative posts showing your partisianship.

It is legislation with merit. but not in the present form and most likely anyone who voted against it, did so because it is recognized as feel good legislation rife with loopholes.
This present legislation is but a p.r. stunt that would do nothing to address the rampant spending in D.C.
