Nice work GOP.
Yes, it is nice that Congress can't do any more damage than it has for the last 50 years. I hope they can keep it up.

Believe me, we have more than enough laws to run our lives as it is. We certainly don't need any more.

Why is our lives at stake? What impending danger to you refer to?

That's why the people were chanting "41!" during his victory speech. His win gives the Republicans the ability NOW to filibuster...they didn't have that before and the Democrats didn't use their 12 months effectively.

The Democrats should have decided what their "this legislation must be passed because the Democratic Party has decided this is critical to our country and our platform" was going to be. They were given the key and had no idea what do to with it. It's a sorry state of leadership and I will bet good money that the country won't be giving either party that kind of power for a very long time.

The American people and especially us Independents are just looking for some party leadership from either side of the aisle. It's funny that the Republicans have their act together despite not having any true "leadership" and that those who are Republican have as many polarizing issues as the Democrats who can't stop fighting with each other long enough to get anything done. Put your issues on the table, bring them to a vote and let the public decide the consequences. I just find the whole thing disappointing.
Lets not fool ourselves here, they didn't have 12 months. First off, due to the lon battle over the Minnesota Senate seat, the Democrats did not get their "60th vote" until Franken was sworn in on July 7th. They never really had 60 votes at this time due to Kennedy being quite sick, and he died 6 weeks later. A month after that is when Kirk was appointed. So the Dems really only had those 60 votes for about 4 months, not 12. On top of that when one of those 60 votes is coming from the guy who campaigned for the opposing Party's Presidential candidate the year before, and against his own, well its really not 60 reliable votes.

You mean the recession that didn't start to turn around until Reagan was more than a full year further into his term than Obama currently is? Is that the one you are talking about?

And how did Reagan pull us out of a recession? Its no coincidence that Obama is now beginning to talk tax cuts.. Something that many have been saying since day one needed to be done to get the economy moving..

It is a shame, I was kind of hoping the democrats could raise taxes, pass cap'n'trade, and massively regulate banks and other corporations. And bankrupt almost every industry associated with healthcare. While giving amnesty to the 20 million illegals already here.

If the democrat super majority would have been able to pass these things. Our economy would have went into the toilet in a hurry, while forcing many many more companies overseas.

That would have been the perfect storm for many states to start seceding. Don't the liberals want their own country? I don't understand what the problem is.

The tax cut was passed well before the economy started to turn around.
