??? Transitional to what? For millions of Americans, including many who work low-wage jobs, poverty is persistent and transitions only to destitution eventually.

??? Michigan has a "nonhomestead" property tax for schools, not levied on owner-occupied primary residences; the school property tax rate on nonhomestead property is four times the rate on homesteads. This tax is locally voted and passes by huge margins (like 3-1 and 4-1) in the most conservative areas. Conservative homeowners are just as happy to vote for free money as are liberal homeowners.

Because conservatives would generally want to work for what they earn and when they succeed they don't want to see 50%+ going to people who will not do for themselves.

Sure. And while we're reading, why don't you go read the constitution. Specifically, this part: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Maybe when you can understand that, you might be able to talk about other people having no brains. Until then, though, you might want to consider the old adage about people living in glass houses not throwing stones.

It's not just "they're stupid", many disenfranchised people of all stripes simply do not trust the government to do anything right, and thus any attempt at health care reform will be shot down.

I personally find it hilarious that people who would benefit from this greatly are by and large against a bill which would provide health care insurance. Oh well. I don't care anymore. Be poorer and in worse health. You dug your own grave. And the more well-off social conservatives dug it too.

maybe those poor conservatives like being free more than having a nanny from cradle to grave.

Exactly.

I know this is a difficult concept for Liberals to grasp, but some people out there still place a higher value on their pride than their pocketbooks.

Some people would rather work for what they have even if they don't have as much.

Some people don't see other taxpayers as their own personal piggy bank.

The higher the annual income, the greater the percentage of voters pull the Republican lever in Presidential elections.

"Financially, Republicans fare better than either Democrats or Independents, and tend to identify themselves as such. Republican candidates gain a significantly higher percentage of votes from individuals with incomes over $50,000 per year, and the advantage increases along with the income level, to a height of 63 percent of individuals earning $200,000 or more a year supporting Republicans. This level is the direct inverse of individuals earning less than $15,000 a year, who support Democrats at 63 percent and Republicans at only 36 percent." They are not conservative. They are "RINOs."

Mainstream Republicans are closer to Democrats than the conservative abomination that is the Tea Party.
