From every account the I Pad is expected to hit the market like a cannon shot. It is destined to become one of the hottest products ever released and millions and millions are expected to fly off the shelves. Already some police departments are making crowd control plans for release day when lines are expected to be huge.
The question is will this be the spark that re lights the American economy and consumer spending again? I think it may be!

There would need to be an item that raised productivity in America. A new and faster way to make widgets for example. A consumer gadget does nothing because it requires that Americans be able to afford it. Apple may benefit, along with its employees, from the sales to richer countries such as China or Russia, but not so much here.

The IPad:

I feel sorry for women. Looks like those things would be uncomfortable.

They're not made in the U.S.....and I don't think any Apple products are made in the United States.
It's really just a boon for people who own Apple stock and Apple employees.

Kev-

One could not dream this stuff up if one were to combine acid and alcohol.

I wonder if Obama thinks the same thing, thus his continued efforts to emasculate the rest of the economy.

Default no

just another marginally useful yuppie toy designed and marketed so that those who buy it can imagine themselves more enlightened than others.

Apple may sell a lot of them, but with no real net effect on the economy, or society.
