Anyway well despite the US having a black president, it appears the US has more problems with racism than other western nations. Examples of this is certian threads here where there are some members that believe that blacks are trouble makers and bringing some arguments is the reason why they are trouble makers is due to their genes.

In addition there is stormfront and its the largest white extremist database around so far, but most people who are members appear to be American. There are many European members but it seems a clear majority are American. I dont live in the US however even though racism exists here it does not seem to be a big problem than the US. In the past 50 years here in Australia there has been very limited number of race riots, but over in the US there has been many. In addition race riots have not been so wide spread in Europe as the USA, or Canada has lack of race riots.

I have had European friends that visited the US several years ago and complain that they were astonished on the racism there, but when they came to Australia they could see that racism is not a big problem here.

Consider that the U.S. has a larger black population than any other advanced country, by far. I'm not sure how any meaningful comparisons can be made.

What type if racism are you talking about? Just against blacks? Look at Ireland and the killings they had in Northern Ireland. Might not be race but one class against another. Many countries have race problems, we just don't look at them as race. Plus Jews have been persecuted over the centuries in many countries.

Unless you're an Indian student getting beaten to death by a bunch of Aussie skinheads.

Or a refugee at the mercy of an abusive detention center guard, pending deportation back to the country you're trying to escape.

Or an Aboriginal or descendant.

Yeah, I bet racism isn't a problem in Australia if you're white.

Most western nations didn't have to deal with the large population of minorities that is a tradition in the US. Europe is having to adjust, in the post-colonial era, as the people of their former colonies exercise their right to immigrate. They're responding with the typical fear and racism that you'd expect from people who are used to being insulated from having to live with large populations who are a different color or culture than you.

After all, you don't see the US banning Minarets (Switzerland) or headscarves (France). The Europeans have long looked down their noses at the US's race relations, but now they're finding out it's not so easy as it looked to live with different peoples when they start making up a sizeable portion of your population instead of just a few token representatives.

If you want to see racism go to a soccer game in Europe.

1. Racism not a problem in Australia? LOL!!!!! Wow. Asian much?

2. Not many western european countries have to deal with the consequences of such large and different ethnic and socioeconomic groups mixing together (as the U.S. does).

3. The U.S. is isolated from the rest of the world, and the general population does not have as much opportunity to become as 'wordly' as a bunch of tiny european states sitting right next to each other.

Default Racism Is A Meaningless Term

Racism has become a meaningless term, because it is used incorrectly. However, it does have a real meaning.

Racism is synonymous with bigotry.
Bigotry = clinging to a belief, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

We are told, ad nauseam, "race doesn't matter!" However, race does appear to be significant. So, the messages were are bombarded with, in our mass media and government schools, appear to be bigoted, in regards to race. Hence, we can say, our governments and mass media are "racist." Still, most people will misunderstand you

Well Aborigines have suffered racism and not denying that, but the lyncing of Aborigines has never been on the scale of the US or the race riots associated with it on the same scale as the US and in addition there are many towns here that have a large proportion of people that are Aborigines yet the race riots were not as the same scale as the US even throughout the 20th century. Yes there are some places in Australa where the Aborigines represent a majority of residents so Australia has always had a large number of people that have a different colour living in the same country as them.

Well yes there has been attacks on Indian students, however there has been attacks that the attackers were not white so it has not necessary been racially motivated. Anyway with the recent race riot in an Australian beach a few years ago, have said it was over blown by the media by the resisdents that I have met that lived in that suburb.

Well even though France has banned headscares in schools, its due to the secularisan of France, and you cant wear a christian cross in a school. France has a bigger history of secularism than the US. Of course France has racial problems but over all in its history in the 20th century appart from the nazi occupation in WW2 has not been a really major issue.

What are you saying here? That only whites can be racist's?

In response to your original thesis: Have you ever been to Japan? If you want to see racism, that's the place to go.

Well I have even said in some other post that whites cannot be the only ones that are racist and even stated blacks can be too.

Well I even met an Indian here that had a racist view of the culture out here. However even with people saying those things, actions speak louder than words, such as racially motivated violence.

I have vistied many racist websites and a majorty are from the US and it is apparent a majority of those members are from the US.

I never been to Japan but its not an western nation.
