WASHINGTON—The U.S.'s top intelligence officials said Tuesday that an attempted al Qaeda attack on the U.S. in the next three to six months was "certain."
***
Al Qaeda remains a significant threat to the U.S., the officials said, and the group's recent evolution in tactics includes dispatching individuals who can enter the U.S. without arousing suspicion, such as the man accused of attempting the Christmas Day attack.

Such tactics have created "a new degree of difficulty" for U.S. spies seeking to thwart the next attack, Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Al Qaeda will remain intent on attacking in the U.S. at least until Osama bin Laden and his second in command, Ayman al Zawahiri, are killed or captured, Mr. Blair said.

Unfortunately I think it's inevitable, the only question is the target and the scale.

The US had its fingers pretty much everywhere else in the Middle East. Afghanistan is such a ****hole that we weren't going to go in there unless provoked.

Because they were planning to invade Iraq first and arm the Northen Alliance against the Taliban, then invade Afghanistan after the situation cools down in Iraq.

We've already had al-Qaeda related attacks with the Christmas Day "knicker-bomber" and the Ft. Hood Massacre by the jihaddist "Major". This is not a new threat just a continuing one. We have a POTUS who is seen by the enemy as weak so no surprise that attacks will be more frequent than before Obama became Commander-in-Chief.

Well.. the way I see it, it doesn't matter where are troops are or who they are fighting. According to OBL himself in his latest tape, we are to blame for global warming and therefore should be attacked. So I fail to see what our troops have to do with anything they are doing or where they currently are located. They could alll be here in the states, and OBL would still attack us.

I think people really need to go beyond blaming a specific party for it, this problem we face is not going away no matter who is in office. These people want us dead and they can care less who is in the WH because in their eyes we are all just dirt. You only have to look as far as how they treat their own people that do not conform to their beliefs to understand how radical their ideas are.
