Hey, winning is winning, especially in a place designed to make you a looser.

I also graduated from public school.

I'm 2/0 here! Who's da man now?

It is getting pretty crowded under Obama's bus. Add Nevada under there along with our European allies, our soldiers, and his grandmother.

These are the kinds of statements from folks like you that prove that you really don't know anything about our city.

I have a news flash for you - "Vegas" didn't build City Center. Two corporations - MGM Mirage and Dubai World - did. City Center employs 12,000 people. Thousands more worked on the construction of the complex.

Ignorant statements like yours above only fuel the economic distress that's hit our state harder than just about anywhere else.

Thanks.

I particularly like the comment about Las Vegas not relying on tourism to support the economy. Well what do you suggest we rely on? Selling rocks and sand to the United States? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all major cities pretty much rely on tourism/conventions, etc to support the economy? It's not just Visit Las Vegas ads I see on TV, I see ads for San Diego, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, etc...and when I lived in Buffalo NY (3rd poorest city in America at the time), I saw ads for Pennsylvania, Toronto Canada, Ohio, West Virginia, etc. If Las Vegas got rid of gambling, strippers, and drinking, no corporations would be holding their conventions here, and people would not be visiting here either. Now, take Disney World and Universal Studios away from Orlando and who would visit there?
Point is, whatever he "meant" by the statement, people are not going to analyze the statement and break it down. 99% of the people who heard him say not to go to Las Vegas and blow some cash while you're saving for college (either parents or students), are going to hear, "don't go to Vegas." It is common sense that when money is tight, you cut corners and sacrifice, but he could have said Don't go on Vacation when you're behind on your mortgage. Honestly, he shouldn't have to say anything about how to save money...it's common sense if you have a brain.

Another thing all you anti-Vegas folks are missing is that we have a large population of military families here. Oh, were you know-it-alls not aware of the fact that we're home to Nellis Air Force Base?

As I'm sure you know, being the military isn't a great paying job. It's tough to support a family on just one military income. I have friends at Nellis that have taken on jobs outside the base to make ends meet, and they're single... Do you not care about the wives and husbands of military personnel that were laid off of off-base jobs due to this economy?

Your approval of Obama's remarks and your continued denigration of Las Vegas only demonstrates your ignorance of our economy and your lack of respect for our men and women in uniform.

I wouldn't say disparaging things about Miami, Dallas, Detroit or Charlotte - even if some of the things I might say were well deserved - because I've never lived in those places and I don't understand the dynamics of life in those cities. Yet you're willing to completely trash a city of over 2 million people for no other reason than to back up the politician you voted for.

How pathetic.

Huh? Saving money for your kids' college education and not blowing it all on Vegas slot machines shows "lack of respect for our men and women in uniform"? You're a genius.

It is not fair to dis Las Vegas when there are hundreds of North American Indian casinos right on the edge of major cities ruining the lives of compulsive gamblers, not that I have any sympathy for someone who gambles a lot.
