Interesting thread and good to see that liberals and conservatives agree on something and not blamin or bashing each other. I think it should be legal for the same reasons that have been mentioned here. I have believed this for years and alcohol is more harmful than marijuana. Anyone who believes that marijuana should be illegal should feel that way about alcohol. There are many prescription drugs that are far worse and being abused as well. Just because the government says it's bad or good (in the case of alcohol) does not make it so.
Yeah, the drug war is really about corporations. nothing more. Thus, since we dont' live in a Corporatist Nation and not a democracy, it will go on for a long, long time.
I did it when I was younger, I tried it again a few years ago and all it does now is put me to sleep.
No more dangerous than alcohol or tobacco and both of those are legal. Legalize and tax it! The revenue is needed, plus we free up cops and jails to deal with the real criminals.

One raw drop will kill you. (not weed) I smoke weed whenever I'm able. I have done much stronger drugs. Weed should be legal. The world would be a happier place. Oh yea... alcohol is a depressant (not weed).
P.S.Haven't done those other drugs for about three years. Don't miss them either. That sucks it just puts you to sleep. Unless of course you are an insomniac.

i was astounded in my last job that all those baby boomer people i worked with that got thru the 60's and 70's had never smoked dope, not one.
I'm one of those baby boomer people who got through the 60's and 70's and never smoked marijuana or anything else. I didn't know it was astounding though.
I'm with the majority here, I'd like to see marijuana legalized. I believe drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes wreaks more havoc than smoking dope. It's time to make it readily available in stores, collect taxes on it, and empty our jails of the people in for marijuana charges.
Smoking pot is just another way to get high. I've used a lot of them. The big difference in using alcohol and pot is the headache. Pot never gave me one.
If the best stuff was raised in the U S the government would tax it and control it just like alcohol. The best stuff is not raised in the U S.

I don't smoke and hate the smell of it and marijuana smells even worse...Near the basketball court kids are smoking it, and it smells terrible.
In the Netherlands we called the cops once, and they discovered the so called art gallery next to my business was nothing more than a weed growing place with hundreds of plants...the smell came through the walls..
