I have been all over the US, and Palin's "dialect" sounds just fine to me. But then I have only been in Alaska for a little over 30 years, and maybe have forgotten how "lower-48thers' sound like.
I am glad you showed up, a voice of sanity from the wilderness. Restores my faith in Alaska. It must be hard living in an intellectual desert with these two.

We know it sounds fine to you, Ray. You aren't listening to her voice while you're salivating over her anyway But really, the way she talks simply is not specific to Alaska, sorry.
Though you do hear all sorts of accents, but not among non-Natives who were born and raised there.
"Unintelligent"? Have you listend to half of the Democrats in the House and Senate? Specifically: Barbara Boxer? Nancy Peloci? Just to name two!
Palin is far mor intelligent than these two.
Obama has a speech impediment. That whistle drives me nuts! That is a speech impediment.
Sorry. But you aren't convincing me. You sound like the typical hateful left. you don't like her message; so, you attack her as a person. That doesn't score points. Makes you look like an ass.
Have you heard Maxine Waters talk? And how about that Democrat woman who was the Surgeon General during the Clinton years? Yes, the same one who advised masturbation to US teens (forgot her name) Even Byden makes all kinds of "foot in mouth" mistakes when speaking. Obama stutters without a teleprompter, and has even talked about a 57th US State.

Yeah, ol' Ray's been whacked upside the head so many times by that poor wife of his for salivating over online photshops of the former gov. that his hearing is about gone anyway.

Seriously, Met.: she speaks like a lot of other Alaska transplants who have been here for many years. I work with all kinds of people, from AK Native to ones from Mexico, Dominican Republic, and from every State in the nation (at UAF). Every one of us has a unique "accent." Palin is not alone. I have been told that I have a sort of NYC accent, and I haven't been in the big apple since the 70's.

That the point, Ray. Her accent or speech impediment or whatever it is isn't some sort of Alaskan regional dialect.
By the way, whoever sent me the rep point indicating that you know me from a former live can DM me and fess up; I've been missing my old eagle cam buddies lately.
Assila has made me late for Happy Hour so I'll check back in with you idjits later.
Half of my people are from B.C. Canada. I've lived in the PNW all my life. And we worked out of Alaska for awhile quite a few years ago.
Nobody in any of the above areas spoke even remotely like Sarah Palin does. I do have some Okie relatives who speak with a noticeable accent, but not like Palin's in the slightest. I have no idea why she decided to talk like that or which state or region it comes froml.
