Washington has seen a bit of snow over the past several days.

I remember living years ago in a high rise in an urban environment. You know the drill - not many people talk to each other, you don't know your neighbor other than by sight and a quick hello in the morning leaving for work, no sence of community.
Yet I remember one blizzard lasting several days when I lived there where people were helping each other push cars out of drifts, people smiling as they cross country skied on normal packed streets, and a general good natured attitude.
Anything to this?
