As some1 who knows about singing & many years a producer in the industry ..I can tell you that Carrie Underwood was not too far from Rosanne singing ..off notes & many of them..she tried to max the voice screaming ..& was off on 12 notes..
Underwood don't fit for such job..She's good for country music..nothing else..Same thing in 1/2 time..the Who use to be good up to 20 years ago..but no longer..look like the 2 original members ran away for few hours from the "old people home"..but lets forget the age..the vocals of the lead singer..were mostly horrible & the lead guitar Pete playing sounded like my 7 year old son..off notes etc..

Why the stupid people who organized the superball can not bring a real talent for the 1/2 time show..like Van Helen (which will draw many extra millions of watchers)..instead the bring in old timers which got no talent no longer..(like the Stones last year)...

Sorry Underwood..u got to learn alot from Whitney Houston..

OK, we agree...let me address your expertise...would an opera singer do better on the "Banner" ?

I think so...those , what I call "Little Lala Tiny Girl Voice" singers, that are so unfortunately popular today, can NOT sing.

The "Who" stunk and the song went on and on and on and on ...sheesh!

A christian song would be be best for America, one that would reflect the American attitude, such as "Onward, Christian Soldiers".
OR
The hit by 50¢: "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'"

I think that we need to get people who can sing songs like that one as it is written and not with all their warbling and trying for notes they can't get. Listen to the version I picked here and tell me which notes are not attainable by most people who can sing at all.

No pop singers, no vocal showoffs, just people singing an anthem that they want to do well.

How do you even think you could do what was done at this game with a group of pop stars singing "This Land is Your Land"? Get the pop singers out of the lineup and use only people like Whitney Houston who can sing within their range and do it honestly.

When I listen to a large band play the Star Spangled Banner I always cloud up but I don't think your song would get me too excited no matter haw big the band.

I agree. Not that it is not one of the most, if not the most pivotal part of this nation's history, but not very uplifting and it is so not easy to sing. I always liked America The Beautiful or You're a Grand Old Flag much better.
