Be careful what you wish for.

U.S. president Gerald Ford told Congress in 1974: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

unless you're on welfare or are a communist, why support the Democratic Party?

I dont think that was original to G Ford, and I dont really get the connection to the OP's point.

I'm NOT wishing for a consumption tax of 10%. Are you?!

So everyone who votes for Democrats is on welfare or is a communist?

How do you feel about paying a 10% consumption tax? Excuse me, 8.5%.

You'd do it, in case someone might think you're a communist, right?

Wow, what a one way vicious attack on your part. Never mind the similiar generalization of Republicans by the initial post. I posted the same thing in the 180 degree opposite direction and you attack me but not the OP. I've voted for Republicans but I don't own a business nor am I rich so shove it.

Why not lay down the party lines and simply vote for the BEST qualified candidate. If everyone did that, we wouldn't be in this mess.

There's crooks on both sides. Neither party has the monopoly there. What needs to be done is vote OUT everyone that's been in office longer than 6 years.

Get some NEW people in there and get rid of the collective dead weight that just sits there and shoves taxes down our throats while they vote themselves in a pay raise on our dime!

I'm not rich, but I make enough to be comfortable. I've voted for Republicans and Democrats in the SAME election. I vote for the BEST person NOT their party.

Well, your post was silly, Im sorry if my reply came across as vicious. I was just exasperated -- sorry to have seemed rough.

I just dont want anyone who tends to vote R to be tricked into voting for, or allow to be sneaked in, ANYTHING resembling a consumption tax because it's designed to hurt you and to help the rich.

Would I steer you wrong, sailordave? Ive always been right before

" Unless you're rich, why support the Republicans?"

Because you realize you are capable of more than $3.00 per hour.

If you are uneducated and have no initiative, support the democrats. They will take care of you and there is no need to work or support your family. The feds will do that for you.

Purple, did you ever get a job from a poor person? Who employs you? A homeless person?

It used to be in America that people actually knew where there job came from and how much work it takes to develop a buisness. Now people think that the government created all these jobs!
