Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has announced that his country now has the capacity to enrich uranium to 80 per cent, enough to produce nuclear weapons.
In a speech to hundreds of Iranians in Tehran’s central square, marking the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution, Mr Ahmadinejad said: “If we wanted to manufacture a bomb, we would announce it ... our nation has the courage to explicitly say it and build it and not fear you."
Let's see what Obama's teleprompter tells him to say to that. I am sure we will have to hope that Iran will be disciplined enough not to use any nukes.

"The move drew stinging criticism from U.S. President Barack Obama who said on Tuesday that Washington and its allies would begin developing "significant" new sanctions against Iran. He also praised Russia's "forward-leaning" statements on the issue after Russia's security chief Nikolai Patrushev said Iran's actions meant that fears by Western powers over the nature of its nuclear program were "reasonable."
Well Iran government has stated it has no intention of building a bomb, and says if it wanted to it would announce this.
Anyway within the 5 UN security council permanent members only China is opposed to sanctions on Iran. Russia recently accounced that it would agree to sanctions on Iran. Anyway for sanctions by the UN on IRan it has to be approved by all 5 permanent members of the UN. Anyway convincing the Chinese wont be so easy for the US as the China has stated its disapproval over US military recent sales to Taiwan. China may eventually abstain from the vote on UN sanctions on Iran, but they will never vote for sanctions. Anyway China has big business interests in Iran with regards to Oil and giving it up would be a difficult choice.

anyway its just propraganda bs, and an attempt to divert the Iranian governments suppression of dissidents
Last week two Israeli missile cruisers passed through the Suez canal and there is speculation they're on their way to the Persian Gulf. Move begets counter move.
But but but... I thought Iran's nuclear research was strictly for peaceful purposes! Nuclear plants to produce electricity, ONLY. Just what a country with the third-largest oil reserves on the planet, needs.

They told us so!

But of course MY DEAR WATSON, would Iran dare to lie oh come now,
they are doing this for peaceful purposes, don't you know. Those fools, actually believe that we believe anything they tell us, just what they don't need!
