Seems they've changed their minds. Program cancelled.
UPDATE: Polk Schools won't proceed with iPod incentive - Bay News 9 (http://www.baynews9.com/content/36/2010/2/11/581592.html - broken link)
Gee, I wonder where they will get all those iPods.
Jees, I'm more wondering where they will get the money to pay for them.
According to your argument, why stop at ipods.. why not give out new Rolls Royces.. They are after all hand made and will employ a lot more than ipods..
Great use of federal funds. I'm glad they did away with this idiotic program.
Quote:
The money was going to come from a federal government program for developmentally disabled students. About $150,000 would have been spent on the iPods. Correction: Our original story incorrectly said money for the iPods was from federal stimulus funds. The money the district was going to use is from the federal government and is to be used specifically for programs for developmentally disabled students. It is separate from federal stimulus dollars.
Gee, I wonder where they will get all those iPods.
Ergohead is correct, ipods are manufactured in China.
I'm glad they canceled the program...it sounds like they are conducting some high level CYA now.
