But even though you are a liberal Democrat, and think you know what you are talking about, black people do have different shades of skin, eye color, and hair.
I have never ever ever ever in my life seen a light-skinned person with a wide and flat nose as any sort of icon of beauty. I realize that it is true that all beauty is subjective. There are people out there that love extremely fat women. Some people that are infatuated with midgets. Some people love their dogs or sheep, and other weird beastiality.
The commonly accepted version of what is attractive has never been and will never be, a big fat nosed white girl. It is also never been kinky curly, dried out haired white girls. Even today, almost all black women of beauty either straighten their hair, or wear a weave. Or they aren't true black women, but do have dark skin and these aforementioned Caucasian features.
The vast majority of black women in America are not 100% black. They have mixed either voluntarily, or have been forcefully mixed as a legacy of slavery(as sad as it is). And before you say that those white farmers must have thought the black slave women were attractive. Keep in mind, that in the absence of black slaves, those farmers probably would have been ****ing their sheep(did you know a sheep vagina is anatomically very similar to a human females vagina?).

From what I can tell from the numbers, whites must also include hispanics(which many statistics do).
By these numbers white men make up about 51 million out of 60 million marriages, or roughly 85% of all marriages in the United States(compared to their about 80% of the population). Black men represent about 4.3 million or about 7% of all marriages(in contrast to their 13% of the population). Asians are about 4.5% of all marriages, which is pretty close to their 5% population.
The total number of white men married to Asian women is about 4.5 times higher than the total number of white men married to black women. And if you factor in that Black women outnumber Asian women about 2.5 to 1. Then White men are about 11.25 times more likely to marry an asian woman than a black woman.
Secondly, Asian men are married to 29 times more white women than black women.
So, we can draw the conclusion that men tend to find black women the least appealing, and white women and asian women the most appealing.
And since women are the epitome of beauty, and since women tend to be less visual(less shallow) than men. Then we could probably come to the conclusion that overall beauty tends to also follow this trend. But of course, there are obvious exceptions.
And let me tell you a little about Asia. They tend to prize caucasians features highly, especially light-skin. They actually sell skin-whitening cream in many of those countries. Can you imagine someone selling a skin whitener here in America? Guess they don't have those "proud to be black/brown/yellow/whatever" crap that we have here.

That has nothing to do with race.
In the old days, it was considered low class to have a tan - it meant you worked outdoors doing some sort of labor.
Nowadays a tan is a sign that you can afford leisure time.

I do find it sort of ironic. But most white people don't want to be black or anything near that color. Just tanned.
Take for instance Elin Nordegren.
She is Swedish, so she is very light-skinned. Basically, a white girl. Get her into a Bikini at the beginning of summer and the brightness of her skin is likely to blind a person.

But if you see her in any of her swimsuit or other modeling pics, she has this weird shiny golden glow.
She definitely isn't going for the African look, and its a pretty far-cry from even latino. I would call it more the mediterranean look than anything.

There are blondes all over TV in practically every country with blondes. This is evident on all Spanish-language television. I wouldn't really call it racism, I would say that people want to attract an audience by giving the audience what they want to see. In this case the audiences tend to like blondes.
As for Asians and the people you know, I don't really know your friends. But as a general rule here in America, there is a large section of the population that has the yellow fever pretty bad. My friend was watching this softcore-porn the other day, which was about these white comic book-like super hero guys, and all the girls in the movie, for whatever reason, were all east asians.
If you were to say that all marriages, even interracial marriages, should reflect the population(the people you would generally come in contact with). Whites outnumber Asians in this country about 16 to 1. But the number of whites marrying asians is about 25% higher than where it should be on just the national averages. Then if you compare that to the fact that people of a given race generally marry within their race. The fact that whites marry Asians at such high rates seems even more evident that, white men on average tend to be disproportionately fond of asians compared to other races.
I realize your little group of friends is not the average, yet you want to use them as a reference to justify your position. But you must pay attention to the facts of the bigger picture, and the facts are against you.
If you want the truth about whites and asians, I think these numbers are kind of skewed since it lumps hispanics in with Europeans in the white category. If you were to narrow the white category down, the numbers would be even more skewed. Because I don't think a lot of hispanics score asians.
