Do you bother to wipe yourself? I'll assume yes. So, if you take the care to do that even though you're going to die anyway...

There are 2 trash cans side by side. One is labelled: Aluminum cans only. The other is for regular trash.

I see people throw cans right into the regular trash.

I don't understand why something so simple to do can be beyond the ability of these people. I can only conclude that they just DON'T CARE.

These people operate the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. They don't see the landfills so garbage doesn't exist. And they go ahead and produce as much unbiodegradable trash as they please, when they have EVERY opportunity to lessen the impact.

Do you recycle? Why don't you, if you don't? Remember, it's not about being left or right. One of the most devastating things INDUSTRIALISM has created for our country and the rest of the world is the lack of good soil to produce food.
I recycle religiously. I also find it disgusting that people can't distinguish between the two. It take ZERO additional effort.

I wasn't laying a guilt trip but you sure seemed to find one. I was just expressing what I did. By the way, if you live in LA (I'm guessing that's what La La Land means) I took the bus there too. Every day from downtown to Venice. I can see where that would be a drag with or without recycling in tow.

LA has the best municipal recycling in the US. No need to cart recyclables to a center there.

I live within the LA Metropolitan Area but not within the city of LA itself. My complex's trash is handled by a private waste management company and there is NO containers on site for recycles so yes, one has to cart their stuff to the nearest facility. For me, that would require two buses.

I'm not finding any guilt trip but maybe I misinterpreted your post. I live in the county of LA and the bus system isn't the greatest so I avoid making trips that are not absolutely essential in survival. It would be nice if apartment complexes would offer a place for recycles though.

What's wrong? If it doesn't affect me, I don't care about it. That's simple self-interest.

Contemplate what your life would be like today if the people that preceded you, also thought like you do now? Thankfully they did not.

Actually, they did.

You've heard of the Love Canal? The condition of Lake Michigan? But it's okay, it doesn't affect me personally.

The question was meant to reflect on the people that built this country vs. your selfishness, not examples of pollution. Although it's not surprising you failed to look much deeper than computer monitor.
