Bayh won't run, cites partisan rancor

No more In 1998, Democrat Evan Bayh was elected to the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by his father. Bayh defeated Paul Helmke with 64% of the vote, the largest victory margin ever by Democrat in a U.S. Senate race in Indiana. In 2004, he was re-elected, soundly defeating Republican challenger Marvin Scott. (Alex Brandon / AP file photo)

Two-term Democrat Senator's decision will have seismic impact on Indiana politics. - 10:36 AM

Makes me wonder if he has higher aspirations (POTUS) and is considering an Obama primary challenge?

Now that i've read the links and others, I believe Bayh is full of crap. He DID NOT make the decision to not seek re-election based off the outcome of a very few pieces of recent legislation, as he says. Politicians are very calculative. He's leaving for other reasons, no doubt about it. Who does he think he's fooling?

All I know is that's another Senate seat.

I think he saw the writing on the wall back in Indiana. It got out that he he was the behind the scenes cheerleader to vote for that monstrocity health care bill. But in public, he was playing like he was a "blue dog".

Indiana voters are pissed. And he knows it!

Could this be a Democrat strategy? Are they intentionally dropping their seats as a way to show that they are refreshing their seats?

It seems too calculated....

Thoughts?

Dems are falling like dead flies, and many of the Dems that hope to seek re-election will also fail.
