I haven't seen this posted anywhere so forgive me if this topic was posted but I was listening to Michael Smerconish and he was referencing a story in the NYTimes this past Sunday about how Christian fundumentalist have taken over the state school board in Texas and are now dictating to textbook publishers what should be included in the social studies books of kids K-12.Since Texas is the largest purchaser of these books, most of the other states are forced to buy and use the same textbooks as Texas.

Topics like hip-hop music and Sonia Sotomayor being the first Latina Justice will be omitted but country music and Newt Gingrich will be emphasized if the Texas State BOE has its way.Edward Kennedy role as a Senator will be left out but Republican's contract with America in the 90's will be inserted.

For all those who thought that the President speaking with schoolchildren about being good students and citizens were "indoctrination" what is your opinion on the Texas state BOE hoping to promote Christian Republican conservative values and figures with little counterbalance?

WARNING: The article is pretty long

Most homeschoolers are homeschooled because this garbage is not taught in schools. If all this starts getting taught in schools we'll have an influx of wackos

Oh, Walter... I so enjoy your flamboyant displays of homeschooling ignorance. Keep up the good work - free entertainment is hard to come by.

As one of my brothers pointed out:

Don McLeroy, Orly Taitz--what is it with these right-wing dentists?

When history and facts get in the way of their beliefs, people have to do something.

I think it's funny how people scream about other people doing it, weather it is happening or not (usually not, just that the information is counter to their position), and yet are the largest perpetrators of the crime themselves.

Just goes to show you that people should never vote or believe an agenda based on what party/faction/side people belong to, but on what is happening. I wish these members had that common sense.

LOL! This happens every couple of years. There are two sides of this story. I am sorry I am not really interested in going into detail about what all the liberals wanted included.

dont worry, there is lots of idiotic liberal diatribe that makes the cut.
