Yeah, we're sitting on the largest shale reserves in the world, which would bring our costs WAY down, yet we can't get them to fund that.
Wait until they find an endangered worm or something in those ponds. That'll be fun.
We've discovered energy reserves everywhere. Whether they'll let them move forward with something, that's another story.
NASA, DARPA.... AEGIS, the Manhattan Project, Missle Defense, and Lasers - I'll give the gov't that. Notice how much cash flow was needed for these scientific advancements, I'm not sure the private sector had the financing and witherall to discover these things.
I wonder why we subsidize an industry that fuels (no pun intended) our enemies and is dangerous and costly.
With a plan that reduces Co2 and puts some dough in tax payers like this one does and the use of algae, the government should invest as much as it can into real clean technologies.

I saw a TV program about these algal ponds and their possibilities. Very interesting and exciting.
Exxon ponied up $600M for research into just this form of energy. This technology is for real.
