A nationwide atheist group is asking religious leaders to take Jesus' advice and render unto Caesar what is Caesar's — especially when it comes to taking the federal tax break on their housing.

The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation says the housing exemption gives churches an unfair advantage because they can compensate their leaders with tax-free housing.

I didn't know that ministers didn't pay taxes.
I thought it was just the church...

Free housing would also be considered taxable income.
They work, they pay.

what about the 'tax free' housing that acorn does

if we are going to strip 'taxfree' status form one group, then be better strip it from all groups

no more taxbreaks for welfare either, a welfare check is INCOME, and the section 8 housing should not be tax free

Victim mentality.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see Hindus or Buddhists trying to influence US politics. I don't follow their beliefs, but I respect them more since they keep it to themselves.

If you're on welfare, you're not making enough to pay taxes. Duh.
That's not the same with religious folk; they get vehicles, homes and salaries tax free.
That's theft.
