Minn. city thinks woman's $1,600 water bill is correct, even though it's 20 times usual bill.
A Minneapolis woman has received a $1,600 water bill, a bill the city believes is accurate even though it's 20 times the woman's usual bill. Erica Kocur said her bill is generally $70 to $80 per month. She said her "heart just dropped" when she got her latest bill.
We have a couple here on our little rural water system who routinely get water bills in excess of $2000. Why? Because they "irrigate" their yard continuously, day and night. Most of it runs down the road in a perpetual stream, but they don't care.
The town my company (old office) was in had it water supply shut down for gas in the system, and my comany has its own wells, so we back pump'ed water into the town system. Later that month my company got a water bill for all the water we back pump'ed into there system. Turns out the water meter only runs 1 way. They fixed it. but still.. we supply water for the town and have to pay for it (twice).
