Would you marry someone who had the complete opposite political ideologies as you?
I don't think I could. It would be hard. Especially every 4 years, I would show support for the Liberal/Democrat guy or gal and he would do the opposite. I dont think it would work. We would probably both fight a lot.

I'm a liberal. I could potentially marry an economic/domestic policy or foreign policy conservative. No way in hell I could make it work with a social conservative.
You mean, can any of us imagine being in a James Carville -- Mary Matalin type of marriage?
It's difficult to imagine, but I bet they have great chemistry... you know, s**ual tension that they "work out" at home.
The shared passion for politics could work, as long as the couple consists of compassionate human beings and not merely bitter snipers. I'd like to think I'm open-minded and compassionate enough to handle being with someone of the opposite persuasion, provided they were sane and loving about our differences.

True. I would have no issues with a fiscal conservative either. But a socially conservative religious nutcase. No way.

I'm a liberal and I have many dear friends who are conservatives. It works out fine since we are all adults and are able to discuss issues on which we disagree without being disagreeable and nasty about it. It would be a boring world....and a boring marriage....if people agreed on everything. In the real world (as opposed to this forum) people are able to co-exist nicely even though they disagree about politics because they treat one another with respect and make the assumption that the other person is a good person who is coming from a place of honest beliefs.
Not a chance. I won't even let a liberals across my threshhold.
