Agreed. There is so much to disagree with in marriage, politics don't really matter all that much!

Chatteress, don't give up on these non-Christians. My DH was not a Christian when we married, but he's gradually coming around, after 30 years.

James Carville and Mary Matlin as two opposite as could be happily married
Carville seems like such a happy guy. The marriage must be good for him.

Thanks for the advice but I'm not sure a non-Christian would be happy with me and would understand the priority I give my relationship with Christ unless he is equally-minded in that respect. I have tons of preferences that I am willing to forego for the right person but I don't think it would work out if he was a non-believer as that is central to my heart. It would be difficult for me to not be able to share my faith and worship my God with the love of my life. All other things, including politics, take a second stage to my relationship with God.

You just proved my point right here about those far left liberal wackos.

Yeah, it couldn't be because we don't want anymore spend-happy wackos (this time with a socialist bent instead of a warmongering one). It's because we're wildly racist. Riiiiiiight.

Not likely but I would not mind giving a right wing female a good screwing.

Talk about a "deal breaker". . . everytime I have dated a conservative, and it has happened several times, I find out that they wanted to "keep me barefoot and pregnant", that they are cheating on their current spouse, and owe thousands in child support from the former wife, or is a con man, of one sort or another. I'm sure that all conservatives do not fall into these or other similar categories, but, the ones I have run into are uniformly "icky"

Don't worry, she won't answer it, nor will she answer my post either. Notice how she has cut & run yet again? Typical.

No, because I think the opposite of me would be some sort of fascist, authoritarian type. I usually go for women who have a laid back, live and let live attitude toward life.

Political values are so entertwined with one's moral and ethical values that I can't understand how anyone can marry someone with strongly opposing political views.

Times have changed...

Women, use to be the care givers of the family and liberal in general.
The Men were the providers and conservative in general.

Now you have women with no provider but themselves and they see the struggles. They are looking for that provider, so they can go back to being the liberal provider and that is the government. The government should somehow take care of them.

So now your saying men must become liberal, to be compatible with women???

The nanny state has cause laziness and single motherhood.

Good point but what you seek is no longer possible. Americans are different now. Women have babies out of marriage. My mom has worked all my life & nobody in my family has got into trouble w/ police. Mothers must have day care in order to work. The world is changing so policies need to be adjusted to fit the new reality. Republicans look backwards for fear of the future [sort of weak].
