There is much truth in this opinion piece from the NYT. All we on the right and left are arguing about is WHICH set of elites will run the world, though we don't seem to recognize it.
Will it be the George Soros-like social justice billionaires of the left who would re-order society and redistribute wealth for their vision of utopia, or will it be the global corporations on the right which would reduce us all to mere economic assets in the name of profit for themselves?
No. There are only a tiny fraction of "George Soros" elites.
Elites are pretty much going to stay in power despite who is in control.
The only question is do you want the GOP in charge who will give the elites more power or do you want the Dems in charge who will fight for middle
class benefits.
It's funny that you've dreamed up these "liberal elites"....they ones who give all their citizens health care, longer vacations, paid maternity leave, free education.
Those "liberal elites" sure are selfish aren't they? Coming up with all those high tax rates to pay for benefits for every citizen.
This was of my biggest problems with the ultra left, when I hung out with such folks, defining the "ruling class". You state that it will be the bankers, as if all bankers like all members of any other group of elites are joined at the political and philosophical hip. I just don't see that as being totally accurate. Nor do I think that one could determine uniformity of beliefs or practices against any group of exceedingly powerful individuals.

Seriously? The Dems are going to do absolutely nothing whatsoever, and neither will the GOP, to hurt the "elites". The elites are the only thing funding "our" bankrupt government. Destroy the Money Cartel, destroy the government. "Our" government will not commit suicide. End of story.
Now if The People kill the "government" and its master, the Morgan Reserve, that is owned by the elites...well that is a different story, but I don't see any hint that the paupers and slaves are organizing as yet to remove their shackles.
The Dems think that people who make 250,000 a year and people in the health care industry are the world's elites.
When the Dems, or GOP for that matter, get around to eliminating the Morgan Reserve, return to Constitutional currency, abolish partial-reserve "banking", and reevaluate usury laws, then they will be able to say that they are "going after" the elites. Until then, they are a bunch of spineless and evil employees and servants of the Money Cartel and America is nothing more than a Plantation.
What you don't understand is they are going after all the elites in this country who ARE NOT part of their group. Most of the elites that want power, don't reside in the U.S.---nothing this gov. does will affect them. The Bill Gates type are rolling in tax breaks and other benefits the gov. gives them. Any money they give is returned with a profit.

Yes. 250K was only where the higher taxes started. The marginal rates go higher from there. That's the top 2% of household incomes.
Cry me a river.....LOL
"Absolutely nothing whatsoever"
