WaPo reports that one day before DC law changes to allow same sex marriage, Catholic Charities in DC changed their employee benefits package to no longer provide health care benefits to new hires or spouses of newlywed employees.

What a swell bunch. I've donated to these people in the past for the good work they do, but my donations just ended.

Good for them

Not to worry Mike - I'll pick up the slack left by your lack of your $5.00 donation.

They have every right to do that, considering their religion does not approve of gay marriage or homosexuality.

Maybe they might even think about leaving the area.

Oh there you go, throwing facts and objectivity out there. That's no fun. And hey you better not give them any credit for all the good they have done.

No, most companies aren't suddenly dropping coverage for spouses of new hires. This is a highly unusual move on the part of Catholic Charities.
